INTRODUCTION
Travel and tourism sector has become biggest civilian industry in all over the world. It
provides the travelling facilities to people with better accommodation facilities. This sector has
to be emerged as one of the main key drivers of development between service sector. It is a main
source to generate employment and enhance living standard of people (Benckendorff, Sheldon
and Fesenmaier, 2014). This present research report is based on TUI Group and it owns hotels,
retail stores, airlines, travel agencies etc. There will be discussion about the influence of
technology in travel and tourism sector. In travel and tourism, technology helps in fast
reservation, advance hotel bookings etc.
TASK 1
1.1 Formulate and record possible research project outline specifications
A research project specification helps to frame as well as craft the better study to draw
positive outcomes. This research work is based on particular issues which are necessary to
address with the help of conducting proper investigation. Under this activity, investigation is
based on predetermined objectives and aims which are designed in beginning of project

Relationship among technology and consumer decision making in Travel and Tourism
Industry
According to the viewpoint of Vellas, (2016), Technology is determined as one of the
crucial part in this globalised society. Technology is helping companies under travel and tourism
in generating, gathering, processing, applications and communication of information. Along with
this, technology is reducing the processing cost and assisting firm in improving customer
services. With the change in course of time, travel and tourism is in good position and it is all
possible because of providing better services and facilities. Technology mainly aid company in
attracting potential customers by fulfilling the needs and wants of consumers. Therefore, it can
be said that there is a direct relationship between technology and customer's decision making.
For suppose, TUI Group is using effecting technology is letting their valuable customer know
about the services they are providing then consumer will be able to make appropriate decision
related to their trip. Whereas, if vice-versa happens then it will work as a negative factor and
there might be a possibility that customer can move towards other organisation in order to know
about the deals and for choosing the right package.
Therefore, it can be said that it is mainly internet that is providing significant benefits to
the organisation. For instance: while making a plan, consumers can easily check the information
related to time, cost, places etc., as a result, according to today's scenario, now with the help of
technology based business strategies company can use valuable information about consumer's
choices. Thus, customers can now easily go to the websites and check offers as per their choices
and select one according to their benefits and needs. This will not only increase profitability of
the company but also increase its customer base.
1.4 Research project specification
This research is based on TUI Group and the influence of digital technology on consumer
decision making. In the sector of travel and tourism, technology is considered as a helping hand
because whatever information company wants to provide to its customer, they can easily access

they can get appropriate information and knowledge. A research project specification plays an
important role in order to conduct research in a systematic manner so as to get potential
outcomes and results. For doing this research qualitative approach will be used as a result, it help
in collecting information. Furthermore, descriptive research design will be taken into
consideration because with the aid in doing investigation in a detailed manner. Moreover, both
primary and secondary methods of data collection will further be used while doing this research.
Former helped in gathering first hand data whereas secondary methods assisted in making
literature review part more appropriate and effective in nature through books, journals, online

Experimental research design is mainly used to establish relationship among effect and
cause of situation. It is causal research design where the effect caused observed through
independent variable. In Exploratory research design, thoughts and ideas of an investigator are
depended on personal inclination regarding specific research area. Under this, researcher
generated the hypothesis through examining data sets with the current relation between variable
(Law, Buhalis and Cobanoglu, 2014). In Descriptive research design, investigator explains
situation in a proper manner. This research design is theory base and developed through collect,
analyse and also present gathered data in an effective manner. Among all the research designs,
investigator use the Descriptive research because it provides information in a detailed manner
and provide the theoretical description.
2.2 Proposed research investigation in accordance with the agreed specification and procedures
It consists of systematic process of gathering information and data through measuring the
variables. Under this research, investigator uses the different data collection methods which
provides the accurate as well as reliable information related to specific research area in an
effective way. The two different kinds of data collection methods are primary and secondary.
Primary methods- Data is collected for the first time and from different sources for an
instance questionnaire, observations, surveys etc.
Secondary methods- Data is already collected with the help of using different sources
such as books , journals, articles, magazines etc. Under this investigation, researcher uses both
data collection methods. Secondary method is is used to conducting the literature review part by
including opinions of different authors and writers (Law and et. al., 2015).
Under this, researcher uses qualitative and quantitative methods for conducting an
investigation in an effective manner.
Qualitative method- Data is measured in terms of quality and also provides the
theoretical information about particular research area.
Quantitative method- It is based on the statistical analysis and it is measured in numeric
terms. In context to conducting this investigation, researcher uses the qualitative research method
to gather information by using the questionnaire.
