What did you learn from these talks? What arguments does the speaker use to explain
their idea?
From Sir Ken Robinson talk, I learned that our current education system needs change in
order to obtain best results. I also learned that as human beings we are naturally dynamic and
inherently creative and that the curiosity of our children is what makes them want to learn more.
Similarly I learned that the duty of a teacher is to facilitate learning by, provoking, mentoring
and delivering also teachers should be given responsibility by supporting them, trusting them and
helping them to boost the education of our children. Robinson uses curiosity and creativity of
human nature to explain his ideas. (Robinson, 2013).
From Ramsey Mussalam learned that a teacher should encourage the curiosity of the
student by answering their questions and the aim of the teacher is to confuse so that it could
trigger questions from the students. Ramsey used the phrases curiosity comes first, embrace the
mess and practice reflection to explain his ideas ( Ramsey, 2015). He was also diagnosed with
life threatening aneurism when he was young this is where his ideas came from so he shares his
life experience to insist on his arguments.
On Daphne Koller Ted talk I learned that learning through online can be as advantageous as it
saves time, resources and can triggers a wave of innovation hence lifelong learning ( Daphne
2013). I also learned that education is a human right and everyone should access education.
How do the speakers make their message more powerful, convincing and
emotional? What tricks do they use to keep the audience interested?

The speakers are making their messages more powerful, convincing, and emotional by
focusing on their main points (Einstein, 2016). For example, during Ken Robinson opening
speech he speaks about the three topics that ran through the conference, later he says as we heard
yesterday. He focuses on the main points throughout his speech .Robinson combines his shared
experience of the conference to his main points.
To captivate their audiences, the speakers are keen on use of key terms, Robinson signals
that important words are coming when he says “And my contention is, all kids have tremendous
talents (Robinson, 2013) and my contention is a set up phrase and it is an indication that the
words “all kids have tremendous talents” are important.
The speakers are paying key attention to the use of humor (Dlugan, 2012); Robinson
provoked humor and laughter once per minute to the audience during the talk. Humor puts the
audience in a good mood and makes them more receptive to your ideas the speakers also uses.
The speaker also makes use of Rhetoric questions to enhance their speech (Einstein,
2016) for instance Sir Ken Robinson says (Dlugan, 2012) “the whole purpose of public
education throughout the world is to produce university professors isn’t it?” everybody has an
interest in education don’t you? This makes the audience to be alert.
Mussalam made use of a metaphor during his presentation he said “Teachers in the
classroom must be like a surgeon”( Ramsey,2015), this is because we understand that surgeons
are knowledgeable and we trust them to mend our bodies .Like surgeons teachers should be
considerate to our children .The use of metaphor makes the audience want to learn more.

Reference to Ken Robinson I learned the following words of expression, we are
educating children out of their creative capacities and curiosity is the engine of achievement
(Robinson, 2013).
Ramsey Mussalam, curiosity is the beginning of self guided learning, every education
system in the world has the same hierarchy of subjects, embrace the mess, practice reflection and
the bonding tool, student questions are the seeds of real learning, Questions and curiosity are like
magnets which draw us close to our teachers are words of expression I learned from the speech.
Online education can provide a real class experience, free online classes can elevate
education to a human right (Koller ,2012). Online learning can trigger wave of innovation and
lifelong learning are the word I learned on Daphne Koller’s speech
4. What is your own opinion the speakers' style of presenting, their choice of
subject, and their ideas?
The speaker used more of conversational talk than visual presentation. By using
conversational style of presentation it makes them understand the audience. I noticed Sir
Robinson limping at the beginning of the presentation this shows how a presenter should open up
during his presentation so that the audience can know more of him (Haden, 2016). The speakers
spoke passionately about the topic they also involved the audience in many ways by asking
several rhetoric questions. The use of humor was well represented in their talks; they aroused
wonderful word of expression, and told stories (Haden, 2016). The speakers chose topics that fit
well to their audience that is the teachers and students. During their presentation the speakers

focused on key word, for instance Ramsey Mussalam focused his attention on curiosity comes
first, embrace the mess, practice reflection.
