Reflective Study on Teen Alcohol Consumption: Challenges and Solutions

Introduction
The increasing rate of alcohol consumption among teenagers in Australia is a matter of concern.
A research-based study found the fact young people prefer to face negative health consequences
of being drunk rather than facing social exclusion of staying sober. Simultaneous perception
leads to the finding that all the teenagers would drink at the same level of intoxication. However,
the exclusion is not limited to the individuals who do not drink. It is a potential consequence for
people drinking too much. Hence, the current study understands the criticality of the situation
and aims to improve the prevailing scenario. The essay thus implements a reflective approach for
understanding the problems faced while educating people about the mentioned project plan
Collaborative working
Based on my experience I feel that learning autonomously with good results is possible through
the individualistic approach. However, one might wonder about the importance of collaboration
and teamwork in carrying out a project plan. Thus, I feel that the answer depends on the mindset.
If collaboration is viewed as an obligation the benefits of working in a team may not be obtained
(Golini et al. 2015). However, it should be taken into consideration; if collaboration happens
organically then the benefits are enormous
My personal experience in collaboration has positive. The increase in my morale can be termed
as one of the prime advantages that I gained during my course. I personally feel that as students
work together to accomplish the goals, we can celebrate the success both as a group and
individually. As a team the value of working in collaboration as providing a meaningful reason
to work together. As stated by Muller & Turner (2017), equal partaking or collaboration provides
the team members to ensure equal participation and communicating their ideas. Hence, it can be

easily stated after collaborating with my friends for understanding the ways to curb alcohol
consumption among teenagers. With successful collaboration, we were able to collect relevant
data. The statistics that were collected by us provided a clear idea about the current problems in
regards to alcohol. I gained immense knowledge about participation and teamwork. Through the
mentioned events, I have gained the skill of enhancing my skills related to problem-solving.
Additionally, collaborative working helped me developing my self-management skills. I was
able to manage my skills accordingly (Ahimbisibwe, Cavana & Daellenbach, 2015)
Challenges observed in the tasks
The challenge in regards to the current research study can be termed in obtaining the required
data. In similar regards, it can be stated obtaining the consent of the research participants can be
termed as one of the greatest challenges. As pointed out by Badewi (2016), consumption of
alcohol is conceived as a simple issue with no severe consequence. It is for the same reason, help
from the research participants was difficult to obtain. In addition to that, I realized that
explaining the harmful effects of alcohol was tough. In addition to that, project planning acts as a
bigger challenge due to the difference in thinking and way things can be approached.
I realized that the challenge of collaborative working cannot be ignored. However, it should be
taken into consideration the challenge indifference in opinion can be attributed to the difference
in approach to the problem. Research reviewed the association between alcohol consumption and
expectancy theory (Davcik, Vinhas da Silva & Hair, 2015). Thus, based on the theory, it can be
easily stated manipulating expectations may lead to controlling the consumption of alcohol
(Vismara et al. 2015). The study further makes indication, directly and indirectly evaluating this
former position is reviewed. A similar study found the fact that a reduction in positive
expectancy can change the level of consumption.

Gibbs reflective cycle
Description
The group was entrusted with the task to revise relevant literature regards to alcoholism among
the teenagers. In similar regards, it can be stated that the importance of controlling the levels of
alcoholism. I was provided with the responsibility to collect the relevant data and bring together
the exact understanding of obtaining a clear idea about the importance of controlling the increase
in rates of alcohol consumption. In similar regards, I have additionally worked in a team that
helped me to obtain the required information. I had a word with the teenagers consuming alcohol
to the level of intoxication for understanding the exact level of problems and recommend ways to
mitigate the same. I undertook a group activity as a part of my study. Each individual was
delegated with a special task and through the use of shared responsibility we were able to obtain
the result we expected
Feelings
The feelings of the mentioned class task were mixed. On one hand I was excited to implement
my skills for the betterment of the society. However, I was visibly scared of the fact of how the
research would proceed and the relevant data would be collected. However, with the passage of
time I gained significant confidence as the group was small and the level of interaction was
intact. I took the proactive initiative to start the task that further helped me in communication my
ideas to the other members within the team.

Evaluation
I immediately got connected with the team and further contributed to the formation of ideas.
However, the formation of harmonious relationships helped me in understanding the exact
requirements of the study. We explored the given topic independently and ensuring there is a
clear connection between the research participants and the learners. Due to a lack of
understanding and cooperation, the research intervention was negatively impacted. However, it
should be taken into consideration, I have invested enough attention to understand the nature of
the research participants and the team brought ideas that can solve alcohol problems
Analysis
Based on my understanding I have gained an idea on how to tackle sensitive research
participants. Furthermore, I have gained enough idea about the ways to promote better self-
learning. I was always thinking about the deadlines and want to make sure that the tasks were
completed within the stipulated time. Thus, I would say that the group acted very close to a team.
However, there is still a gap in high performance. Thus, if I had to change a few things about the
team I would like to change the way we approached the task.
Conclusion

my pre-existing skills and even gained a few new ones. I realized that the challenge of

Action plan
The plans for future studies were further promoted through a well-developed action plan. I plan
to make sure that learning and continuous development is parts of my daily routine. In similar
regards, I plan to maintain a journey to keep a record of the things being learned by me. Once the
things are being learned, I plan to ensure that the knowledge I have gained is being implemented
for better outcomes
