Life transition refers to a period in life which brings
lot of changes in one’s lifestyle or an important
event that make one stop or evaluate life. The major
life transition event can be accident, buying home,
job change, having baby, relocation etc. The current
poster consider the life transition of teenager who
become pregnant.
While dealing with the teenager who is pregnant the
nurses must try to examine the situation which
affect individual and the outlook of teenager about
self so that the thing which is affecting them can be
determine. After this information, the nurses can
provide them with all support and care they want to
make them live their maternal stage effectively by
formulating strategies to provide better care.
A women experience huge vulnerability and faces
tremendous challenges while transitioning to
motherhood specially when a teenager become
mother. The adolescent mother experience a
increased burden of responsibility with new child.
This is so because a teenager mother have low
capability of handling a baby, due to her young age
she faces physical problem after birth and
breastfeeding, ability to care baby, economic strain,
social support, psychological well being etc.
To deal with the life transition for teenager who
become pregnant for dealing with maternal stage
in positive manner, the theory given by
Schlossberg is best suited. This theory is based
on 4 s system such as situation, self, support and
strategies as by integrated these four aspects the
teenagers can be able to successfully deal with
their teenage pregnancy.
