3.1 Current System of Telstra
Telstra Corporation Limited is the largest telecommunication network in Australia. It provides
services such as telecommunication networks, mobile, internet access, markets voice, paid
television services and various other related products and services. Telstra was founded in 1975
and currently with its 150 subsidiaries in various countries across the globe. Its headquarters is
situated in Melbourne. Organization has adopted vertical integration technique for performing in
the form of network based structure through which desired goals and objectives could easily be
attained. Apart from this, organization is seeking for other strategies through which customer
satisfaction could be enhanced in relation with attaining the leading position in the global
telecommunication industry. These strategies have been adopted by the organization with respect
to their internal and external stakeholders’ consent in terms of attaining overall development and
sustainable growth (Moorhead, 2016).
Along with these strategies, organization has also adopted information technology system for
enhancing the organizational performance along with enhancing organizational reachability in
other parts of the globe. Telstra is being counted in the most advanced companies in
telecommunication industry due to their wide product offering and information technology
oriented techniques. These high tech strategies are capable enough to determine organizational
different target segment’s needs and wants. On the basis of those requirements and wants,
organization has been able to make their services more effective (Nekrasova, Leventsov &
Axionova, 2016). Along with this, Telstra has adopted change management as their primary
approach to move towards sustainable growth and overall development with regards to the
attainment of competitive advantage. In terms of using integrated information technology,
organization is counted on the top of the list. Their change management strategy has made the
organization capable enough to deal with the dynamic business environmental conditions along
with gaining positive outcomes. Technology adopted by the organization has also resulted in
enhancing customer base. This has helped the organization with the objective of attaining
competitive advantage as well as with the objective of enhancing the product offering (Laudon &
Laudon, 2016).

Organization current CEO Andy Penn believes that for attaining higher customer satisfaction, it
is required to fulfil employees’ needs, wants along with providing them an effective, safe and
secure workplace environment. With the help of this strategy, employees’ moral could be
boosted up which ultimately encourages and motivates them to work hard towards attainment of
organizational mission of being the largest telecommunication network across the globe
(Abushova, Burova & Suloeva, 2016). Along with this, the new technologies adopted by the
organization in relation to enhancing effectiveness of their services which have made a positive
image amongst their target, existing and potential customers. Organization has also been able to
introduce new services in relation to the telecommunication, mobile network, internet and paid
television for targeting different customer segments with the help of adaptation of information
technology in their functionalities (Allen, 2017).

3.2 Identification of Specific Control Weaknesses within Telstra
Information technology system has helped the organization to make their network as one of the
safest networks which ensures safety and security of their customer’s data. In telecommunication
industry, breach of data network and meeting with the standards set up by the regulatory of
telecommunication industry becomes major difficulties for the organization. This results in the
failure of the organizational system and it directly affects organizational goodwill in financial as
well as in terms of its image amongst their customer segments. Since the introduction of internet,
revolutionary changes have been recognised in almost every aspect (Molnar, Parsons & Zouave,
2017). From an individual to a business entity, internet has brought various positive as well as
negative outcomes. Thus, telecommunication companies have also provided various internet
packages and related services and products to their customers for enhancing their satisfaction
level along with making their lives simpler. On the other side, internet technology is a disaster
because a user’s private information crucial credentials could easily be accessed by hackers
using the same technology and internet. This also becomes one of the major weaknesses for the
organization which results in affecting organizational goodwill because organization could not
impose controls over the access of information (Nawawi & Salin, 2018).
Apart from this, another major weaknesses or challenges faced by the Telstra are disturbance in
their networks, call diverts and breach of contract with other telecommunication companies.
Apart from this, organization also faces competition in terms of pricing and value offered by
other companies in the same industry to attract their existing customers. With regards to all these
weaknesses and challenges, organization has adopted integration of information technology in
their existing strategies through which appropriate mechanisms in relation with enhancing
security for keeping their user’s information safe and secure in order to gain desired goals and
objectives. Organization has also provided option to its customers to lock their mobile networks
and other products with a high tech id and password system through which abolishes the
unauthorised access and other unethical practices (Sapolsky, et. al., 2018).
Organizational new information technology system has empowered their services capable
enough to deal with numerous sorts of organizational capabilities to deal with their customer’s
requirements and challenges. Apart from this, there are numerous other issues and challenges

faced by users while using telecommunication and its related products and services which affects
organizational brand positioning and it results in financial loss. In relation with this, organization
has adopted monitoring system for analysing the issues faced by their customers on random basis
and on that basis, certain sort of measures are being adopted to eliminate issues and challenges
faced by the organization and it also helps the organization to enhance customer satisfaction
along with building effective brand image in the marketplace (Gillespie & Goddard, 2017).
