TERRORISM AND IMPACT
The prevalent terrorist threats of al Qaeda and the other radical jihadist groups that once
gripped America, one cannot simply overlook a steep rise in xenophobia giving birth to
widespread domestic radicalism and terrorism (Freilich et al. 2014). This is mainly a bi-product
of hatred for migration, globalization, rise of Muslim population in the States, mental
derangement, ethnic prejudices and deep-rooted scorn towards concentration of power and
capitalism. Domestic terrorism in America has fund shape in open usage of weapons against
common mass, wide-scale destruction of religious sites, armed attacks and killing of targeted
religious or ethnic groups. According to the report published by Combating Terrorism Center,
several hundreds of domestic terror has shaken the countrymen’s faith in U.S government and its
functioning (Hamm and Spaaij 2015).
However, sporadic attacks in nightclubs, schools, churches and concerts have generated
anxiety, hate crimes, extremism and stereotypical racial sentiments. The hitch in the rate of
domestic terrorism can be attributed to a number of factors like radicalization through internet or
influential public icons, radical nationalism, communism, fascism, religious fundamentalism and
indoctrination (Hamm and Spaaij 2015). This has left no place safe in America even the
peripheries of educational institutes where astonishingly little has been done to eradicate rampant
manifestations of organized hate crimes. The unfortunate demise of democratic and liberal minds
due to domestic terrorism is well-known in America. Therefore, it can be safely established that
domestic terrorism has planted fear and mistrust amidst the people of America and should
be addressed with the highest sincerity.
