1TERRORISM AND UNITED STATES
How does terrorism stack against other manmade and natural threats? Should the United
States continue its approach to counterterrorism?
Currently the changes in the climate and other environmental disasters are all an indirect
contribution of the human conducts, or activities. However, terrorism is a direct violent activity
of the human race, and it is aimed at generating hatred and disasters. The acts of terrorism are
more intentional while the other activities against are not directly intended by the human beings
(Murphy, 2013). More importantly, the other natural threats which are indirectly made by the
human beings are towards the nature, while the acts of terrorism are directed towards the human
race itself, and there is a notion of religion and power involved into these activities.
Counterterrorism, also known as antiterrorism refers to the military practices, and the
governmental techniques and strategies and the system of law enforcement to battle against
terrorism. It is the governmental plan to fight the terrorist attacks.
Now, considering the situations of United States, it can be proposed that, the country must
develop further strategies to fight the continuous terrorist attacks. The country continuously
experiences terrorist attacks, therefore, it is important that it aims at developing further strategies
to manage the terrorist attacks (Mueller, & Stewart, 2014).
How would you optimize the homeland security enterprise for the challenges and threats of
the 21st century?
The homeland security enterprise was created in the notion of securing and protecting the land
form the terrorist activities. Therefore, the organization has included certain approaches and can
further increase the intensity of these activities in order to ensure reduction of the terrorist
activities (McElreath et al., 2017). For example, investing mass destruction weapons, developing

more improvised explosive devices. More importantly the organization must increase the
activities of National Terrorism Advisory System in order to ensure the reduced challenges of
Terrorism. Along with this the effective practice and implementation of the Critical
Infrastructure Security system, will also help the organization to battle the challenges of
terrorism (Lewis, 2019).
What should be the essential elements of a homeland security enterprise vision?
The essential elements that organization must effectively practice are, the U.S. Citizenship and
Immigration Services, Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency, Federal Emergency
Management Agency, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and the United States Secret
Service and the Office of Intelligence and Analysis (Taylor, Fritsch, & Liederbach, 2014). The
organization entails a number of units or elements and the mentioned ones must be effectively
used by the organization.
