Section 1: Summary of the Article
The phenomenon of global terrorism is not new, but in recent years it has become a huge issue
that is affecting overall livings of people all over the world. The increasing terrorism attacks on
innocent civilians, tactically and financially supported by sovereign states, have meant that no
individual is safe from becoming the victim of global terrorism. It is also a big issue that it
cannot be controlled or managed by any state’s law (Lutz, Streiker and Johnson-Champ, 2016).
. Although there are different justifications of terrorism attacks. But the recent tragedies
have led US and other countries to take strict actions and initiatives in order to raise essential
domestic as well as global legal issues. The author focus on the legal availability of the
utilisation of forces in self-defence.
Section 2: Relevance of the text
The article clearly focuses on developing new initiatives to avoid terrorism which is very
much relevant to avoid this global issue, involving three areas of international law such as Law
of extradition, law of governing the utilisation of economic sanctions against other nations and
law to regulate economical activities globally conducted by its enterprises or nationals they
control.
Section 3: Own Response
The article put pressure on changing the legal policies and other laws related to the international
law against terrorism. Due to the increase in terrorism attacks all around the world it is really
important for the countries to take strict actions or initiatives to control these acts harming
society and innocent people. The authors have referred to the laws which are required to be
considered and given more importance. For example, they have talked about legal availability of
using forces in self defence but it is not a potential solution for controlling terrorism in views of
other scholars or writes. If countries all over the world let their defence forces free, it can
develop wars among different nations. The terrorist attacks can be minimised by making citizens
aware of social responsibilities and importance of lives. The terrorism can be controlled if each
and every nation in the world took initiatives towards education and literacy. Even defence
forces should given some powers to act against any misconduct they observe. International laws
should be reformed with major consideration to the increasing terrorism all over the world. Even

though, cannot be specifically defined because of its unstable ontological position. But I want to
argue it can and should be defined as per a set of unique and identifiable features or
characteristics that differentiate from any other kind of political violence (Sterling, 2014).
. Furthermore, according to a review of wider studies literature on terrorism would suggest that
the conception of terrorism has a huge support from numerous leading scholars in the field &
could develop the basis of a consensus over the way ton conceptualise it. This kind of approach
has various benefits over several approaches which already exist. In my point of view terrorism
can by described according to four characteristics such as: An pre-determined and international
strategy of political violence (Cronin, 2013). Secondly, the targets of terrorist can be audience of
the attacks in-spite of the victims, next is that terrorism can be intended to develop or cause fear.
Fourth, Terrorism is targeted mainly but not solely at civilians.
