Terrorism
Terrorism is unlawful usage of violence or force against property or people in
intimidating or coercing government or the citizens for further specific social or political
objectives. Terrorism is intentional violence’s use for religious or political purposes. This is used
for referring to violence in peacetime or in war’s context.
Aafia Siddiqui is Pakistani neuroscientist having degrees from Brandeis University and
MIT, who was charged for several felonies. She was charge with seven counts for attempted
murder and now is serving sentence of 86 years at Federal Medical Center in Texas. She came to
United States for undergraduate as well as graduate education in 1990 on student visa. She
volunteered with Al-Kifah Refugee Center and Muslim Student Association, urging religious
observance between Muslims (Gentry, 2019). Khalid Mohammed which was chief planner for
attacks of 9/11, mentioned Aafia’s name during interrogation. In 2004, she was named as one of
seven Most Wanted Terrorists by FBI.
Siddiqui got arrested in Afghanistan in 2008. During her arrest, it was reported by
Afghan Police that she was having handwritten notes as well as computer thumb drive which has
recipes for conventional bombs as well as weapons for mass destruction, descriptions of
landmarks of New York with the reference to mass casualty attack, instruction for making
machines for shooting US drones and sodium cyanide’s two pounds in glass jar (Shorer, 2018).
On few occasions, both Islamic and Taliban State asked for extradition or release of
Aafia in exchange for United States captives. However, government of United States ruled out
idea to extradite Siddiqui for freedom of the soldiers. Keen interest of Islamic State for freeing

Siddiqui became also clear with demands of militants to the British Intelligence. She has status
of “superstar” in violent Islam’s community. Intimate knowledge of her about American
scientific and culture expertise could had been used by the terrorist for constructing as well as
deploying weapons for mass destruction.
