In TESCO and ASDA when any change is made in any sector than it demotivates the employees
on moving along with the change, generating the fear of unsuccessful completion of the task
which could lead to loosing of the job permanently, thus decreasing the profit rate of the both
companies (Slack, 2017).
The occurrence of change may also generate the stress within the employee, resulting in the loss
of honesty leading to the high turnover rate. The change done in an organization can lead to the
cause of instability in the financial as well as the social loss of the companies like TESCO and
ASDA.
The positive effects of change within the companies like TESCO and ASDA can be defined
through the speed of progress within the market, where TESCO is ranked as the largest grocery
superstore and ASDA is defined as the fast emerging company as compared to the other middle
level companies like Lidli. This rapid progress has been made by the company only when people
of the companies took the change in the positive way and tried their best to work according to the
change thus resulted in great success for both the companies (Slack, 2017).
In case of TESCO when biofuel was introduced in the fuel, which was the major change in the
company but people took this change in positive way, leading to the decrease in the use of fuel,
which increased the productivity of the goods in low cost, due to which it opened the first new
format environment store in Cheetham Hills ,saving about 60%of the energy per day. ASDA has
also introduced many new technologies in past years, one major change it brought was
introducing the first parcel tower in UK, which provided the customers to define the way of
collecting their goods in just 60 seconds and it also introduced voice activated shopping by
Google Home which made ASDA the rapid growing company after TESCO (Slack, 2017).
MEASURES TAKEN TO MINIMISE NEGATIVE IMPACT OF CHANGE
In TESCO, there were major two changes to be brought one was the introduction of the new
payment system and another was the globalization of the company, these two changes served as
the negative impact upon the employees of the company as the major task was to learn the new

technology as well as to learn the new culture of different countries. In order to overcome this
change leaders took the training sessions of the employees for teaching them the new culture and
the new technology as the result of which today there has been many offices of the TESCO all
over the world and the new self-service-check-out system has increased the profit of the
company (Slack, 2017).
In ASDA, the company has been going through the many changes in many different sectors such
as the company has introduced the new products which were unknown to many employees
working within the company, due to which the awareness programs were defined by the
company leaders to spread the awareness of the products among the employees, as the result of
which ASDA was rewarded has the ‘Community Retailer of the Year’ in 2014. ASDA also
increased the number of technology which helped in making the shopping more easily for the
customers (Slack, 2017).
