INTRODUCTION
In this presentation environmental sustainability is explained and why it is
important for organization to considered it is as significant (Elliot, 2011). On
the basis of that how it is contributing to both local and global
environmental sustainability is discussed. For this TESCO company has
been chosen.

Environmental Sustainability
It is defined as responsible interaction with the environment in order to
avoid degradation of natural resources which allow organisation for
maintaining long-term environmental quality. It also tells about renewable
resources harvest, non-renewable resources depletion which can be
continued indefinitely.

Importance
Environmental sustainability is important because it has been recognised by
many individuals and communities that damage which has been caused to
our environment is harming to human life (Osbaldiston and Schott, 2012).

Environmental concerns
There are several issues that exist and are impacting the environment. These
exist due to increase in population and usage of fuel based energy sources.
Rapid industrialisation is also a major factor behind rise in these issues. The
issues are:

• Scarcity of non renewable

• TESCO is a multinational retailing giant which has operations in more
than 14 countries.
• The company is know for its work for society and other concerning issues.
• At present, it is supplying solar lights to African nations for enlightening
lives of people.

Findings
TESCO management understand the value of environment that is why it has
taken various steps to improve the surroundings and work places (Lozano,
2011).
• The activities chosen to be conducted by organisation are responsible
sourcing of raw material from various suppliers.

• The prime aim of company was to ensure that all the work is completed
while sustainability is kept as a priority.
• There are building recycling plants which will treat and make products
reusable for another purpose.

Why it was chosen
• The reason behind choosing stated methods was to make organisation
more environmental friendly and also enhance efficiency.
Currently, fuel based energy sources are increasing bills as well as pollution
(Erol, Sencer and Sari, 2011).

Implementation
• The process of implementation was followed and it was made sure that
each task is completed in a set period of time (David, 2011).
• The installation of solar panel was done by an external organisation.
Recycling plant was built by the company facility department (Du Plessis,
2012).
• Both steps were taken in the year of 2015.

Contribution
• TESCO initiative will be contributing towards both local and global
places.
• The focus on making its facilities self sufficient will enhance
environmental sustainability of company (Maller, Horne and Dalton,
2012).
• While recycling plant will be reducing resource consumption.
There are several benefits of these activities to local surrounding and global
environment (Caradonna, 2014).
