INTRODUCTION
The transformation of business can be understood as the development of the digital technology
within the business organization. This defined that how the different types of organization
change the way of their working and serve to their clients. It is very important for the company
management to do the workplace transformation in effective manner (Alvarenga and et. al.,
2019). This improves the employee’s productivity. The following report is based on the TESCO
PLC which is a well-known retail brand of UK. The following report is going to cover the
different stages of PLC with its importance, the factors need to be taken into consideration while
compiling the PMP and the different research methods. This report also produces a PMP plan,
work breakdown structure and the schedule for completion. In addition to this, this report also
conducts a business project and represent the data with valid recommendation along with the
reflection.
TASK
Stages of project life cycle and its significance to the success of a project.
Project management may be defined as the set of different practices which comprises of
different types of application skills, knowledge, methods, processes and tools which assist in
attaining the objectives as well as the requirement of the project. Project life cycle assist the
project manager in producing executing and competing the project in effective manner. In
relation to the TESCO Plc, the PLC has been discussed below: -
 Initiation: this is being considered as the first stage of the project in which the problem
and requirement of the project has been acknowledge so that workforce attain the
objectives (Serebryansky and Barabanov, 2019). In relation to the TESCO, the company
management identifies the need of transforming the workplace in order to adopt the new
technologies which improves the employee’s behaviour. In this step, visibility is also
checked in order to evaluate the main delivering for the project.
 Planning: this is the next step after checking the feasibility. In this project is breakdown
and time-frames are set to complete the project. In relation to the TESCO, the company
management bifurcate the project into parts and the budget is also decided so that it is
being analysed that how much money is going to spent and how much return is going to
be earned.

 Execution: this is the third step in which the planed which are made has been turned into
action. The project manager must have to balance the work, manage the teams and make
sure that work complete on time. In relation to the TESCO, the project manager explains
the task and develop relevant training session. Quality as well as investment is also
monitor by them, they also make sure that project is completed within the set time frame.
 Closure: this is last stage of PLC. In relation to the TESCO final deliverable, release
resources and assets are facilitated by project manager and they also address the success.
Importance of project life cycle:
 Provides structure- the PLC provide effective structure to the organisation in order to
deliver the project. Each and every worker monitor the progress as well as the problem of
the project (Gusakova, Ovchinnikov and Volkov, 2019) .
 Track the progress-this allow the project manager to track the performance of the
project at each stage and attain the success effectively.
 Evaluation of the project- the stages of the PLC facilitate the project manager in order
to understand the development of the project and the areas which requires attention. This
also assist in reviewing and evaluating the project.
Factors to be addressed when compiling a PMP.
A PMP is basically a formal and approved document that explain the execution,
evaluation as well as control of the task. In this detailed summary of the subsidiary management
plans and other planning documents is included. In context to the TESCO, factors that need to be
considered has been discussed below-
 Experienced project managers and professional project team leaders- the project
manager must have to possess the experience to circulate the project in better way. In
relation to the TESCO, the experiences project manager will avoid the misunderstandings
and effectively communicate the goals.
 Methodical approach: Choosing the right project management method is very
sensitive, but it is important for the success of the project. Follow the trends and
practices of the project framework to ensure process reliability, clarity and efficiency
(Akande and et. al., 2018). For TESCO, stakeholders have to understand the
importance of time in order to describe a clear purpose for the task.

 Monitoring and control: Regular review of progress vital for effective PMP creation.
To track project success Tesco using key performance indicators or reports.
 Strong closure of project: Strong completion of the project is essential, otherwise, this
may consume assets and resources (Xue, Liu and Sun, 2018). The project team needs to
agree with the customer and form that they have achieved the success of the project. For
Tesco, satisfaction surveys are being considered as the best way to document future
references.
Different research methods and strategies and its value to project management.
Research is basically a systematic process which includes data collection, documentation,
examination and interpretation of the information which is developed by particular professional
field. In relation to the TESCO methods of research has been discussed below:
 Qualitative research: Qualitative research is basically the collecting of data in non-
numeric format. In this information received using conversational formats such as open
question (Busetto, Wick and Gumbinger, 2020). This comprises of text analysis, focus
groups, case studies, one-on-one interviews etc.
 Quantitative methods: research conducted using this method usually deal with
measurable numbers. It is typically used as a method of systematically examining data
and information. This contains descriptive, correlation research
Data collection has two methods:
 Primary data: the data which is collected without existing references or sources are
called as primary data. These data re more accurate and reliable (Bougie and Sekaran,
2019).
 Secondary data: these types of data basically exist in nature and generally sources
through journals, magazines and many more. This is more time consuming.

Quality: Deliverable quality means the work that needs to be done according to the appropriate
quality format (Susilowati and et. al., 2021). Specific quality standards have been recognised for
measuring position. Quality control should always be part of PMP. Therefore, the organization
does not compromise on maintaining quality.
Communication: This is being considered as the most crucial part of PMP. This can be acts a
failure for the overall plan if the resources and time are not scheduled properly. At this time
feedback is very important in order to make the adjustment. Communication is required with the
supervisor, subordinates and public.
Resources: Resources can be specified as tools for completing tasks. Plans are needed to be
create and communicate the necessary resources. A resource plan will be created to help in carry
out the research activities effectively. Resources can be assigned to machines, personnel, or other
resources. Within the scope of this study, researchers need to have the right people with
communication and management skills (Silva, Bianchi and Amaral, 2019).
Risk: This is basically the negative factor that adversely affects the project. It is also significant
to identify the risk factors in advance and always have a backup plan for researchers to deal with
the risk factors. If no risk factors are identified, it can undermine the overall success of the
project.

Work breakdown structure: WBS is basically is an effective tool which give assistance to
carried out various activities. In order to attain the project objectives operations are divided into
smaller parts. With the help of this tool project is analysed then breakdown is done for further
effectiveness. Activities are breakdown in logical way which assist in project success.

Gantt Chart: the Gantt chart is taken into considered as the base for the project timeline. The
left side of the chart shows the operations and activities, the top side represent the time
frame of the projects (Zwikael, Chih and Meredith, 2018). The time chart of the activities is

TESCO company in order to drive the employee’s behaviour, this is the significant part of the
organisation. 25 respondents out of 30 said that management give them priority by giving them
perks, benefits and safety and 5 respondents said company don’t do anything.

Interpretation: form the above data it has been identified that the management of the TESCO
company use different types of tools and techniques in order to give flexibility and remote
working to their employees. Nights shifts, flexible time working, work from home and many
more is provided by the firm to their employees as per their preferable time and place. 20
respondents said that company use the latest technology and 10 respondents said that they don’t
use the advance tools.
5. To serve the workers in better manner, what initiatives are undertaken by the TESCO
management in order to adopt the advance technology?
Answer: Different types of tools are used by the organisation for their employees like they gave
laptops as well as computer system to those employees who wants to work from remote places.
Along with this, working pattern is also changes by the firm after COVID 19 pandemic and
provide more facilities like clear air, sanitization and many more
Interpretation: the efforts which are paid by the company management is very well and they
effectively manage the transformation. This result in that workforce are satisfied and retention of
the employees has been increased.

data analysis.
From the above discussion it is being identifies that workplace transformation is very important
aspect of the firm. Organizations must have to adopt the technological advancement, remote
working, flexibility, changes in roles and responsibilities and many more. Transformation assists
the organization to grow, improves its sustainability and also assist them to deal with the
complex situation which enhance the productivity (Berawi, 2020). To this, organizations are
implementing various strategies that can be used to systematically improve profitability and
productivity.
Recommendations
 In order to improve the employee’s well-being and safety, TESCO management need to
develop long-term path for them. Incentive as well as other benefits can also be indulged
by the management which drive their behaviour in positive way.
 In addition, they also have to provide relevant training and development programme so
that need of transformation can be understand by the workers and they can effectively
contribute in the same way.
Reflection on the value of undertaking the business project
I have successfully completed the research activity on the theme of “transformation of
workplace”. By using my appropriate knowledge, I have chosen the right research method of
research which assist me developing valid justifications. Primary data collection method is
chosen by me because this is very realistic and accurate in nature. This gave me assistance to
drive valid conclusion for TESCO Plc. List of questions has been made by me and distribute to
the respondents. During the research I also learned about my strengths and weaknesses and
continued to improve. For example, when collecting data, we were afraid or hesitant to ask
respondents questions. By attending different sources like learning programs, seminars and many
more confidence has been built within me. Along with this, the strength which I have found is
the problem solving and decision- making skill. All the queries have been effectively handled by
me. In the end I also realize that, for my professional growth the current research work is very
beneficial for me.

CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that it is very important to conduct the
research this support the business to evaluate plan and execute in the workplace. Researcher
must have the full knowledge about various methods of research in order to draw the valis
justification. Along with this, researcher have to address to management plan, Gantt chart, work
breakdown structure, questionnaire and many more so that research can be conduct properly.
