INTRODUCTION
The responsibility of an organisation for impacting its decision by its clear and appropriate
behaviour on the people of society, beyond the legal obligations is known as Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR). It basically focuses about the sustainability of an organisation by
delivering economic, social and environmental benefits. It has a broad business concept which
shows the commitment of a company in executing their business in a ethical way. It is
responsibility of an organisation, institution or company for functioning in a cordial and
justifiable manner(Adnan, Hay and van Staden 2018). The object of it to minimize the facades of
environment in order to promote volunteer ism between the employees of company and to
influence the social responsibility in the form of charity. This report will cover the Corporate
social responsibility of Tesco company signifying its conduct in maintaining and handling the
responsibility in a convenient and efficient manner for the convenience of its people.
TASK
The commitment of a company in carrying out the activities of business in a reliable and
efficient way prescribes the responsibility of a company. The management of processing of
business while considering the social, economic and environmental impact.
Tesco has their own code of ethics which benefits the company and its shareholders while adding
value to its business. The company of Tesco was founded by Jack Cohen in the early 90s in
1919, which initiated its business by selling electronic products such as cell phones and other
electric items. It has spread its business in other countries all over the world. The main cause of
its development in the industry is its corporate strategy which mainly focuses on its customers by
giving qualitative products at reasonable cost. Tesco is an organisation that applies the concept
of social welfare for its people.
The principles of an organisation defines the corporate culture of the organisation considering its
ethics and code of conduct. While demonstrating the corporate culture of an organisation, it try
to understand and examine the corporate value of an organization. In order to maintain the
standard of an organisation, it also defines its terms and policies (Grmelová and Zahradníková
2019). It even defines the practices that are to followed by the customers being an important
aspect of the organisation. The conduct and performance with its ethical manner are considered

as reliable aspect for monetary stability of an organisation which can be increased with the aid of
cultural values that has encouraged the employees by enhancing their productivity at the
organisation.
The business strategies of an organisation are affected by the moral issues of the company. The
relationship between the employees and organization depicts the impact of ethical issues of the
organisation. These ethical issues are mainly caused by rules and regulations running in an
organisation. It can become a hectic task to analyse the ethical rules, which can create pressure in
the performance of business. Thus, it becomes a very complicated choice when it comes to
international organization as it is located in various countries with various cultures around
globe.
Tesco being the largest organization of UK is a very profitable industry with its expansion in
overseas all around the globe. Tesco intends to impose risks and costs on the farmers in its new
business processing, as they are considered to be major stakeholders in an organisation. The
company mainly aims at improving the working environment and conditions of workers by
making it suitable for meeting the standards of international labour. The company follows the
ethical processes in maintaining the standards of employees as well as organization. The ethical
trading shows its impact in following the ethics for an organisation which produces beneficial
results in their production (Matten and Moon 2020). The process of communication of policies
of their suppliers, analysing the training of stakeholders and analysing the sites of suppliers helps
in resolving ethical issues. There are various factors like environment, customers and suppliers
are some of the issues of Corporate Social Responsibility by Tesco. These issues are mainly
related to places, people and products.
Tesco mainly have the strategy of keeping temporary employees in place of permanent employee
for decreasing the price of workers in their process of manufacturing. The strategy of paying less
wages with perks to temporary the ours and less appraisals to permanent employees results in
bringing out high production of goods which are cost friendly. The women hired in the
organisation works on contract basis from eight to eleven months and are not able to work in any
other organisation in their free period due to which they are not able to fulfil their basic needs
and even needs of their family, which is an issue for the organisation as well as the women
workers. These are the ethical issues considering the process of production and makes the labour
unsatisfied by leaving them with no choice to work with the company.

The responsibility of CSR involves the management of their workers and shareholders. They
fulfil a part of social responsibility by providing minimum facility to its employees on contract
basis. The international standards are to be followed by the stakeholders for supplying of goods
in order to ensure the quality of production and its supply which enforces a great impact on the
company (Shaw and Shaw 2019). The company has failed in providing some of the
responsibilities to its employees and stakeholders by enforcing very less ethical features. But the
company is also following the example of active participation of employees by effectively using
the energy resources and organic materials in their manufacturing by ensuring the safety of
environment.
The concept of CSR is not very new factor for the organisation. Although, there are expectations
from the organisation considering the responsibilities entailed with it. The factor of CSR came
into existence in 1920s and consequently shaped into identifiable feature with time. The business
representatives and executives have researched for the availability of corporate directors for
enacting and building the trust in shareholders (Robson and Pitt 2018). But in 1970s there were
many changes made in CSR by the organisation and society for uplifting the society and business
by practising the management of business professionals towards modern and sensitive area. The
main ethical reason for each company is the focus for being dependent among society and
businesses. Over the last two decades, the framework of CSR has developed by increasing its
growth in the upcoming years. There are many objectives for the framework of CSR to be
developed which consists of five aspects for the framework of company which includes market
globalisation, knowledge establishment of economy, global employment of technology of
communications, power amalgamation for achieving the responsibility in comparison with the
less proportion of international and global organisations. There is requirement of new
partnerships in social areas within the areas of organisations for gaining results in dealing with
matter of local markets.
The above mentioned five drivers in considering their relation with various investors make the
company more responsible in conducting its business. The increasing disappointment in relation
to share owing society results in the inadequate management of the company. The stakeholders
need to invest time in the organisation for its own empowerment for achieving the licence in
order to function in the company. The increasing development of Tesco which is contributing its
demand for CSR is operating all over the world. The global hindrances which is blocking the

development of the company are relating to scarcity of water, poverty, shortage of food,
pollution of air, water and land, infringement of human rights, under developed education and
lack of employment. Tesco has enhanced its business by providing results for globally
recognised issues and contributing towards its operations so as to pay attention towards the
social, economical, political, legal and ethical issues (Sharma 2019).
The CSR is the main part for the framing of an organisation that has developed into the
operation of management. Tesco, which is a team of qualified professionals provides leadership
on the organisation of CSR. The company has various concerns related to investment for the
structural development. The theories of operating of CSR are based on the grounds to protect
and enhance the social and environmental health of the organisation. The company mainly
stresses on the local functioning of the organisation by highlighting its commitment towards the
local resources in comparison with the global business. It performs well and have a good
approach in maintaining a reliable relation with stockholders all over the globe. There are
various progression which helps in maintaining its status in globally recognised market are to
question the time management of the customers, Living Club of the employees which should be
healthy, to administer the behaviours and training of operation, to regenerate and reclaim the
deprived groups, to manage the employing of roles for safeguarding its energy.
The people of the organisation believe that their foundation should be powerful enough for the
development of an organisation. The CEO of Tesco believes that the reason behind its success
is the values imbibed in it which are in the form of working ways and management of the
organization in different ways and following the ethical practices for conduct of its business. The
organization of Tesco looks forward in managing their staff by taking care of their clients which
should be considered as an important business value (McLaughlin 2018). Therefore, Tesco holds
the steering wheel for administrating its relation with the aim of employees to corporate value
and also to organize the work by balancing the values of staff. The implementation was done to
focus on the matters of corporate responsibility and even consider it as a professional function by
dealing with day to day activities of the employees. The main purpose of it is to earn the loyalty
of the customers throughout their lifetime by generating their business values. The main source
for their development is the people or the customers who shop and work with them. The
customers will stick to the company and continuously shop with them if the company provides
quality and valuable services. The main reason for the success of company is by treating their

customers valuably with respect and keeping in consideration their requirement and needs.
Therefore, the aim of company is to evaluate the core features by considering the needs of its
customers that will help in the development or success of the company in future. The procedure
of long term commitment towards CSR will help in advancing the organisation towards social
and economic progress (Tamvada 2020). The main idea for excellency in a business can be
attained when there is progress in the lifestyle of the people. This will instantly allow the people
by themselves to use qualitative products that can match their lifestyle or their way of living. So,
Corporate social responsibility plays an important role in the functioning of company
considering mainly the social, economic and environmental balance of its customers.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it is concluded that Corporate Social Responsibility has both pros
and cons while considering the factors of the company of Tesco. The strategies of business can
be administered by its impact on ethical issues of the company, being considered as the largest
organization of the country of UK. They must follow some ethics especially in regards of its
employees by increasing or revising the wages of their employees and providing them with other
basic amenities in workplace environment which will in turn increase the efficiency of its
employees with hike in its production, thereby benefiting the company with profit and
contributing in its success. The company in order to perform well should work more towards
having a good relationship with its employees by organising group discussions and alternatively
keeping a check on the performance and functioning of the organisation.
