INTRODUCTION
The organisational functions are the activities that are performed in an organisation so
that its goals and objectives can be achieved within specified time and under the ascertained
budget (Andrew and et. al., 2016). Various departments and their functions are important to work
together and perform their functions so that the business efficiency can be improved and
customer satisfaction can be enhanced. In this report Tesco plc which is a British international
retailer headquartered in England, United Kingdom is taken to understand the importance of all
the functions so that the existence and sustainability of the organisation can be achieved.
MAIN BODY
Role of various departments in Tesco plc Roles of marketing department : Marketing plays the role of creating and building strong
relations with customers in Tesco plc by providing them with such products and services
that can satisfy their needs and wants (Functions of marketing .2019). Their main
functions involve market research, product development, advertising and promotional
campaigning etc. Roles of finance department : Finance department is related to managing the finances of
Tesco plc so that appropriate funds can be maintained in the business which helps in
smooth functioning of the business (Gomes and Romão, 2015). They are also responsible
for preparing financial reports. Roles of operation/ production department : They are responsible in producing the
goods and services by using the raw material, labour and other utilities so that the
customers can be satisfied.
Roles of human resources : They are responsible for managing the employees of Tesco
plc so that their efficiency and performance can be enhanced to increase their
productivity which also helps in increasing the profitability of the organisation (Memon
and et. al., 2018).
Interrelation among all the departments
All the functions need to work together sop that the company is able to achieve its goals
and objectives.

Interrelationship between marketing and finance department : Marketing attracts
customers and helps in increasing sales that generates funds for Tesco plc (Niemi and
Pekkola, 2017). Finance provides funds fir marketing department for market research,
advertising etc.
Interrelationship of sales and Operation/ Production Department : Production
department produces goods and services for sales department whereas the sales
department help in managing the inventory of production department in Tesco plc.
Importance of interrelation among all the departments
There should be an interrelationship among all the departments of Tesco plc so that
integration and coordination of their functions can be done to help in achieving common goals
(Ramanadham, 2019). All these functions are important for achieving success of an organisation
as they all influence and help each other in their functioning. It also helps Tesco plc in utilizing
its capabilities by making the functions of all the departments efficient so that overall
performance of the company can be achieved.
CONCLUSION
From this report it can be concluded various functions of an organisation influence the
activities of each other and help in achieving the organisational goals by working together and
integrating their work. The organisations needs to enhance individual departmental efficiency so
that overall goals can be effectively achieved.
