Tesco is one of the leading international retail company headquartered in the United Kingdom
and established in 1919. The following discussion is based on the digital business and culture of
the organization. Moreover the report also provides the insight of technological platforms and
software used by Tesco.
Why you deem this topic to be of importance
Technology has a great importance in the company culture of Tesco. Tesco has adopted
the advanced technology in maintaining its diversification of the culture among employees and
employers. Information Technology has helped in collecting and sharing the accurate real time
data of different culture based employees which further helps in the greater transparency and
efficiency along with evidence based decisions. It has also improved the performance
management and converted it into the performance enablement which has improved the
communication and collaboration among the employees. It also supports in providing and
receiving feedback which addresses the protective potential issues. It offers more flexibility
which further helps in the easy scaling and adapting the new technology as well. It has assisted in
the increase of efficiency with automation and reaching the sustainability goals. It has boosted

employees to talk to anyone and engage themselves with others. This hinders the team
management and accomplishment of the common task. Therefore, some strategic tactics must be
introduced by the company in order to reduce conflicts among the employees who have different
backgrounds and cultures. Hence Tesco must introduce diversity management with the help of
advanced technology introduction within the organisation. Virtual meeting and management

Part 2
Relation to this course content and discussion on the nature of the relationship between digital
technologies and both old and newly emerging theories on business and management
structures and practices?
There are several challenges of digital technologies which are presented to managers in
terms of culture management. Such managers can face the problem of lack of change
management strategy from the traditional way of culture management to the technical view of
culture management. This is because it requires training and development of using the technical
devices and software to the Employees. It will be difficult if the software and Technology is
complicated to use because it requires new tools and processes to adopt and educate the
employees for the same. Moreover it also needs the continuous evaluation of customer needs if
there is a lack of a digital transformation strategy and proper information Technology skills (de
Baat Doelman, Joshi and Brüggen, 2021). Security concerns are the major issues which are also
related with the budget constraint and different culture mind set. Impact of digital business on
culture management within Tesco is related with the customer relationship management and
managing the digital business infrastructure. This is because if culture management is not being
performed by Tesco in an appropriate manner with the help of advanced technology that it can
negatively impact the customer relationship management as well which ultimately lowers the
productivity of the organisation. This entire procedure requires the management of the digital
business infrastructure which includes various stakeholders of the company such as employees
and employers along with the customers and competitors which is followed by the shareholders
and suppliers and many more. all these elements formulates the entire business infrastructure
having the technical elements with the help of digitalization and advanced technology used by
Tesco (Bican and Brem, 2020).
There is a positive relationship between the digital technologies and different theories
associated with the cultural management within Tesco. Decision making theory is one of the
theories which states how the individuals must behave in the situation of risk and uncertainty. If
culture management is not performed properly in the organisation then it can lead to the bad
decision-making and high risk to run the business which results in the great losses and bad
reputation in the marketplace. Therefore decision making theory relates with the digital
technologies which helps the individuals to make the strategic decisions concerned with the

culture and diversify backgrounds of each and every employee. This is because it helps in
respecting the different types of cultures of each and every individual which further helps in the
collaborative and mutual decision making for productive accomplishment of the goals and
objectives of the company (Stozhko, Zhuravleva, Kruzhkova and Kot, 2019). Technological
platforms and software used in decision making are the decision support system and
management information system so that the strategic decision-making can be performed
irrespective of differentiation in different cultures and other values and background as well.
Another theory which relates with the culture management within Tesco is the system theory. It
is basically the study of interdisciplinary study of different systems in which the interrelationship
of cohesive groups is defined who are the interdependent parts of the organisation. This is
because every system in the organisation is restricted with the space and time and is highly
influenced by the external environment in terms of structure and purpose and functioning of the
organisation. This relates with the culture environment of the organisation because if there is the
negative working environment and culture management will be bad within Tesco. Therefore it is
important to have a positive working environment in the company so that the proper systematic
way of working can be performed with the strategic communication flow and culture
management. This can be done with the help of technological platform and software use per the
Tesco for proper employee engagement. Contingency theory is another theory which relates to
the culture management within Tesco. It is an organisational theory which states that there is no
other way to organise the cooperation and to leave the company and also to make the better
decision. But instead they must be the optimal course of action which is based on the contingent
situation either in the external or internal form. Contingency theory needs the technology and
advancement so that the data analysis and future decision-making can be made which must
examine the different employee culture so that the engagement strategies can be made and what
activity can be enhanced within the organisation. This requires software which properly engages
the employers and employees in a collaborative manner for a better integration of team
management (Chatterjee, Chaudhuri and Vrontis, 2021).
Conclusion
It is concluded that digital transformation in business is an important concept to learn and
study so that its applications can be applied in real world organisations. The above report
discusses the impact of digital business on the company's culture. It is considered as one of the
5

employee engagement can be performed within the organisation. That is why it is important to

areas in order to better understand the conception of digital business and new technologies.
