INTRODUCTION
Inquiry based learning refers to that approach of learning which emphasizes on role of student in
the learning process (Amos, Knippels, and Levinson, 2020). This inquiry based learning should
also be used by Tesco in their training and development of employees which will help them to
learn on the basis of several scenarios, problems and questions. TESCO PLC is a multinational
organization which deals in groceries and general merchandise having their operations in 11
countries all over the world. This report contains adaptation of enquiry based learning in Tesco
organization in order to understand the recent trends of retail industry. Further, this report
contains the brief description about the Tesco Company which contains its internal analysis with
the help of SWOT analysis full stocks for that this report also contains several recommendation
to be made to the organization in order to adapt enquiry based learning in effective manner in the
organization. In the last it contains effective action plan which can be considered by Tesco
organization in order to adapt this learning.

Trends in retail industry
The retail industry serving that boom conditions all over the world and helps a country to
generate approximately 5% of the share to the GDP. The organizations who are working in the
little industry health provide so many important employment opportunities to the people in
which they established. According to a survey data is gathered about the retail economics which
provides that in the recent times retail sales has been grown from 3.5% and provides
approximately 394 million pounds in the retail industry of United Kingdom. It has been also
recorded that this industry generates employment for about 2.9 million employees and involve
more and more people in the business to increase the retail outlets all over UK. In the recent
times there is a high demand for online business in which people has ordered their products from
online sources which needs to be delivered at their home places (Baldock, and Murphrey, 2020).
In the retail industry in online sales is also increase in some years with the rapid increase in use
of technology all over the world. The figures given above shows good contribution of the retail
industry towards the GDP which helps the organizations which are operating in this industry to
get good government support and formulate effective strategies in order to enhance the sales of
the business. These effective strategies will help the industry to grow more and take the

advantage of the boom condition of the industry. The young generation in this industry can help
the retail industry to provide more innovation and infrastructure by using suitable technology in
the sector and provide better service to the customers. The retail industry is getting opportunity
in this sector both through their offline and online stores. But these opportunities came with
several challenges to the business of organizations in retail industry. Taking an example of
combined impact of covid-19 and Brexit put a great challenge in front of organizations operating
in retail industry and these industries need to face several uncertainties in the year 2020. This
situation has put many retailers in in a struggle situation where the retailers suffered due to the
lockdown and left with old stock with them (Destino, and Cunningham, 2020). These challenges
create uncertainty for the organizations in order to retain in the sector.
Analysis of the organization
The Tesco Company has been established by Jack Cohan in London and after its
establishment the Jack and decided to diversify its operation and start their business in
electronics, toys, box, petrol, Telecom, financial services and many more. The company was
established in the year of 1919. Tesco is a global organization which has expanded their business
in many countries of the world having their headquarters in Welwyn garden city, England,
United Kingdom. The company deals in groceries and general merchandise and attain a largest
retailer position all over the world if it is compare with the help of their grass revenues. Then
considered with their native and use the company has a team the position of ninth largest retailer
of global world. In case of Europe the company has its operation in five countries and attend a
leadership position of the market in groceries industry. In UK the company has approximately
28.4 % of market share.

the organization which needs to be effectively managed by the company so that they can retain
their customers with them and attain their goals and objectives (Husni, 2020). There are several
stakeholders which are involved in the company such as their managers, employees and other
persons which get benefit from the affairs of the organization and provide their contribution for
the success of the company. In order to serve the stakeholders in efficient manner Tesco requires
to analyze the needs and fonts of the customers and stakeholders in order to serve them in
effective manner. This research will help the organization to provide various efforts for the
employees and other stakeholders and will help them to understand that productivity of an
organization is fully depend on the productivity of their employees. Keep their employees
motivated and provide their best efforts to improve their actions and productivity in the
organization to achieve success. Along with this Tesco should also understand the value of

which are useful for the effective operations of the organization and will help them to attract
more customers towards them. Taking an example of advanced technology in building system
will help the organization to make the building process fast and will reduce wastage of time of
their customers on the billing counters. Apart from this, organization should also work to provide
required education and training to their employees in the organization. For this purpose the
company should use enquiry based learning in which they should use the approach to understand
the role of employees in the organization with the deep research on the skills which they require

coronavirus, the company has various type of impact on their performance all over the world as
it increases the sales of stores who have a strong online presence. The customers are
understanding the meaning of stay home and stay safe and depend on online orders for their
basic needs which can provide benefit to the Tesco Company as they can sell their products
through online orders. In order to increase their physical presence in this tough time the company
should use resources which are ecofriendly so that they can be supported by the government and
can be able to run their business uninterruptedly. To grow more in the market the company
should involve in continuous research related to the latest goods and services and market trends.
This will help the company to be updated regarding the trends and also they can gain competitive
advantage from the market. It has been analyzed through a research that the company is facing a
problem to retain their customers with themselves. In this high competition if the company will
provide their products at reasonable rates with good quality to their customers it will help them

points and many more to retain their customers with them as the points in the wallet of the
customers will attract them again and again towards the store. It will increase the demand for
