INTRODUCTION
The aim of the report is to clearly present the leadership and management theories,
concepts and its impact on business performance. Leadership and management are both
interconnected and vital function of organisation. Management refers to a function of planning
business resources and accumulate ideas to organise into systematic way. The whole of
organisation management is depended on managers, leaders who perform and make their
contribution in achieving goals and targets of company. There are various management skills that
required in a leader to handle other staff and make them work by guiding and showing path
towards success. Therefore, overall management functions run on the basis of how leaders
control the operation and come out with effective output(Ahmad, and Saad, 2020) . Although
management and leadership are not totally different but require various different styles to work
for both the aspects. Hence, management is for whole organisation and could decide in different
segments like marketing, finance, production and human resources.
They perform their own area of management and evaluate each department to analyse
success factor of company. Whereas, leadership is all about be an influencer for team and focus
on team performance whether on small or large level. This report is going to present leadership
and management aspect on Tesco, a well grown firm of UK, London which has specialised in
selling consumer, home, and daily essential into whole wide world. The company was
established in 1919 with number of supermarket grocery chain at approx 7005 locations. The
company come under London stock exchange and have main aim to provide customers
stratification by maintaining companies management. This report is going to present the concept
of leadership and management with key performance metrics and its critical evaluation on
business and its profitability. Hence, in relation with the the report will help in understanding the
skills and requirement to be an effective leader by understanding with the help of theories and
models.

separating teams and departments. An organisation could not perform as a whole with one
individuals, their success are depended and overwhelmed with many leaders, managers who
being optimistic and dedicated in achieving the target(Aldulaimi,2017). Therefore, leadership
consist many theoretical as well as practical aspect in fulfilling organisational requirement of
skilful and talented workforce by motivating, inspiring and engaging them at effective
workplace. It is all about managing people with one skills to communicate, motivate and guide
towards right directions. it varies form culture to culture, society and other differences. Tesco
engage leaders and various style to lead people as the workplace is diversified and complex
which require professional knowledge and expertise solutions.
Management is the key concept of plan organisational things, production ideas by
organising and controlling over it. Management is a wide concept which has various elements to
perform at an organisational level. Therefore, manager is accompanied by manager, employees

There are ,many quality traits and leadership skills that makes an individual a perfect leader who
could define a better example of leading, instructing and accepting changes through
organisational leadership. These traits of effective organisational leadership are define below:
Self leading: A leader become successful in leading others when they know how to
instruct own self. Therefore, it is needed first be a self motivator and plan things that will be
more feasible for others to understand what leader want to show(Raju, 2018). Responsibility and
charming personality must be the main trait in the leader. In Tesco, leaders are responsible
towards their duty and set an example of a great personality by making self development first.
Team spirit: A leader must have team spirit so that they could coordinate and
communicate them effectively. Without team building spirit, a leader could not perform
individual to achieve goals and targets. In Tesco, leaders respect their employees and not hurt

to be more in developing.
