INTRODUCTION
Management functions in any organisation refers with activities like planning, organising,
directing, controlling and staffing(Waters, 2019).In relation to their human resource and
considered with efforts that will put by the managers in making the organisational goals and
objectives successful within the organisation. Basically management is a function which is the
act of engaging people or employees together to attain the desired goals and objectives in the
market. There are different types of management style is that traditional management, servant
management and team management. The objective and purpose of management is to serve their
customers through doing an effective sale processes. Good managers are continuously working
on ensuring that everything will be done in ethical manner in context of every operations into the
department. Management functions defines the systematic approach to strategically design the
planning structure for organising and directing the organisation. Below report is based on the
company TESCO a British multinational retailers who deals in general merchandise and
groceries and their headquarter in Welwyn Garden city, England. They are considered to be the
third largest retailers in world measures by gross revenues. The report consists of the topic
management structure and their business functions, how will marketing work in relation to
different department functions, categorization of management functions and responsibilities, the
HR role in context of talent management.
MAINBODY
1. Management structure and business functions
Organisation structure in relation to Tesco, relates with how various activities will be
delegated towards achieving an organizational goals and objectives(Rashidi, Mahian and
Languri, 2018). It will define the various responsibility and role's of employees with in
organization. Here are different types of organization structure which will functions into the
business is that Tesco works highly on hierarchical structure.
Functional structure:
This structure is also called as bureaucratic organizational structure which is mainly found in
small-medium sized business. Organisation here divided into special groups which deals in
specific roles and responsibilities.

Divisional structure:
Various teams in the organisation will work towards common goals and objectives. Each

Employees divided into several teams, and they have to report to Two managers. A
functional manager along with project manager. This structure is combined with lots of structure
of organisation.

In relation to the organisation Tesco, they are inducing with several business function in
which they are currently dealing is that purchase functions in order to minimize the cost related
with pricing and to take maximum control(Kamphuis, 2020). Organisation will operates with

various techniques of material management such as economic order quantity, perpetual inventory
system and stock level determination, these are techniques on which Tesco multinational
retailers works on continuous basis. Productivity function, Accounting function, distribution
function, personnel function, and their research and development process and the last one
financial management on which this organisation works on quite effective manner. The company
Tesco engage in business of retailing and related activities and concerned with insurance services
and retail banking. The responsibility of Tesco business function is to determine which course of
action is required in different department of this retailing company. Functional areas is relates
with person, development and the area which will carry out specific business functions is that
customer services, finance, distribution, sales and marketing.
2. The marketing function and its relation to business success:
In Tesco retailing company as they are relatively emphasis more on their marketing value
because of their large business operation across the countries. Product in which they are dealing
is general merchandise and groceries like furniture, clothing and food products so this
organisation have to set their strategies in relation to meet all the department functions value as
well(Hislop, Bosua and Helms, 2018).
Marketing function in relation to operations management:
The department of marketing have to work closely with department of production is that:
Adequate efforts on research and development will be planned with the motive to satisfy
the future as well as current needs.
All the orders which is generated by marketing function should be met within proper tiem
schedule which will require for the delivery.
Human resource department:
Marketing department function have to work closely with human resource department to make
sure about their proper skills and staffing level will be in exact place.
In meeting targets of production.
Research and development in relation of new product and ideas.
Generates an effective and competent sales team.
Financial department:
Marketing department of Tesco will needs to work in order to assist the financial department is

3.How marketing works with other business functions for the success of an organisation
The different function of management in context of Tesco multinational organization
which refers to process through which organisation will run through theory of Henry Fayol
which consists with planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and controlling.
Planning:
Here managers will have to plan for organisation future conditions, through developing the
strategic objectives and attain the future goals into the business (Edelson, Senk and Stock, 2018).
Mangers works in Tesco, should have to strategically plan for their other functional aspects to
successfully meets the requirement.
Organizing:
In relation to the company Tesco, they have to organize their workforce in an effective manner
and properly design the activities in systematic manner.
Directing:
Organisation should be properly directed by the managers and supervise their sub-
ordinates in their daily work and by gives them direction they built effective companies goals. In
context of company like Tesco they have to work by putting maximum efforts on their
employees through gives them proper delegation of work.
Coordinating:
Managers should posses the duties and responsibility to coordinate well with their sub-
ordinates and employees working in the company through proper coordination with maximum
interaction value.
Controlling:
The most important part in running the organisation is to control each and every aspects
by their managers in order to attain the objectives on the basis of company policies and activities.
Relationship between management functions:
Planning and controlling into organization are quite inter-connected with each other. In context
of Tesco planning will set up the goals and objectives what sort of functions process that
organization is needed in the company and by planning aspects, controlling will ensures their
accomplishment. Planning will decides about the controlling process whereas controlling

on each other. Planning will generates controlling is that planning refers with set of objective and
targets which are to be plan by manager so in order to attain these value controlling is needed in
large. Controlling will identify where the planning is needed in the organisation. Through proper
control in an organisation it will directs to the proper information in relation to plan for the future
.They both are inter-related with each other and concerned with future activities in context of
business like Tesco retailing company.
4. Talent Management and Organisational Culture
In an organisation talent management plays an important role, HR have to effectively recruit and
hire those candidates who will able to work and suitable for the vacant jobs in relation to fulfil
the human resource requirement. This talent management is considered with aspect of human
capital management initiatives(Cameron and Rössler, 2018).HCM ensures with hiring of right
people for the job and managing them through proper training and development. In context of
Tesco company, the role of HR in relation to talent management is that: Recruiting which deals
in hiring the right candidate for the job through best recruitment hiring team. Performance
management refers with managing their performance through evaluating and determining each
employees capabilities. Career management which involves with providing them assistance in
building their skills and expertise in order to grow them for their future paths whenever they gets
other opportunities. Organisational strategy which consists with strategic planning for their
workforce in relation to improve their capabilities and skills through training and development
programs.
Define organisational culture and its impact
An organisation structure refers with collection of expectations, values and strategies related
with actions of team members of the organisation. Culture in organization will relates with
proper way to behave in relation to the organisation. Culture involves with shared beliefs, ethics
and value that is followed by the organisation on prior basis.
In relation to company like Tesco, organisation culture will provides with several positive
benefits which consist with social and economic benefits. Through improve health and learning,
increased the level of tolerance into the organisation and by opportunities to come together,
culture in organisation will enhance the quality of life in relation with giving a learning of

It has been concluded from the above report is that every organisation needs to properly
formulate and manages their management functions in relation to attain the business goals and
objectives. Some of the management function which will manage by organisation managers is
that planning, organising, directing, staffing and controlling. In organisation process of hiring a
