qualitative type as it will help in describing theoretical concepts of the topic effectively.
Whereas, the quantitative type is used for describing the numeric figures of the research topic.
The topic selected for present research is globalisation which is very broad concept that requires
conceptual and theoretical frameworks, thus, qualitative research type is chosen.
Research approach
Researcher needs to focus on selecting the best suitable approach for conducting the
research study. This refers to the procedure or plan of the research that helps to span the different
steps from broad assumptions into detail methods for data collection, data analysis and its
interpretation. This is important for researcher to maintain the effectiveness and relevancy of the
study, thus, researcher needs to choose the best research approach. Inductive and deductive rtae
the two type of research approaches. Deductive research approach refers to aimed and testing
theory. Whereas, inductive research is concerned to generating new theory which is emerging
through the data collected (Flick, 2018). The present research topic is globalisation that requires
qualitative research and inductive approach may lead to bring effective and efficient results and
outcomes. Therefore, researcher focuses on identifying the social, economic and environmental
impacts on the business environment due to the operations of Tesco by using the inductive
approach.
Research Design
This can be defined as technique or framework which is chosen by researcher for
combining the various aspects and elements of the research study in a logical, systematic and
reasoning way. Descriptive, semi-experimental, experimental and co-relational are the four types
of research design that can be used by researcher for effectively researching about the topic. The
researcher has chosen qualitative research type and descriptive design so that it can bring out
best results and outcomes (Görg and Strobl, 2016). The descriptive research design refers to
scientific method which includes observing and describing behaviour of the subject and without
influencing or impacting it. The descriptive research design focuses on depicting the participants
view in accurate manner. Researcher can make use of descriptive research design for effectively
and efficiently identifying the positive and negative impacts of globalisation on the UK's social,
economic and environment factors.

Sampling
While conducting the research on specific topic, sampling is considered as the important
element. The sampling technique refers to the procedure for choosing a small part of the
participants from the large population (Hillson, 2017). This is very essential for selecting the
group of people or sample from the large population as it will help to save money, energy and
cost. The group of participants are chosen in order to effectively conduct the research study and
also to make it convenient and easy. The researcher for conducting the present study also focuses
on selecting the group of participants rather than studying large population. Sampling
probabilistic and non-probabilistic sampling are the two methods that can be used by researcher
for grouping the population.
The probabilistic sampling is chosen by the researcher for conducting the present
research study on globalisation topic (Kumar, 2019). And in probabilistic sampling, random
sampling technique is being used by the researcher as this provides equal chances to respondents
for getting selected in the sample population. Thus, for conducting the present research study,
researcher has selected 10 managers of the Tesco as sample respondents.
Data Collection
The researcher needs to collect the data from the relevant and authentic sources in order
to effectively conduct the research study (Lê And et.al., 2019). Data collection is the procedure
for gathering data through the relevant and authentic sources so that it leads to finding of answers
for different problems of research, testing hypothesis and also to effectively measure the
outcomes and results.
There are two methods for gathering the relevant and authentic data for conducting the
research study, i.e. primary method and secondary method. Primary method helps in gathering
the fresh and new data and it may be collected through undertaking surveys, interview,
questionnaire, force field analysis, etc. Whereas, the secondary data refers to using second hand
data and this can be collected through articles, internet, blogs, journals, magazines and books.
For conducting the present research study, researcher has chosen to collect primary data by using
questionnaire. The main aim of using questionnaire is to know different views of managers of
Tesco about economic and environmental impacts on their company.

Data Analysis
The gathered data need to be effectively inspected, cleaned and moulded otherwise it will
be useless and meaningless data without the analysis (Miles And et.al., 2014). Two methods can
be used for effectively analysing the qualitative and quantitative data. For analysing the data for
the present research study, researcher makes use of descriptive statistics to summarize the data
by tables, graphs and charts with proper interpretation of it so that it can be presented in
systematic and effective manner.
Ethical Consideration
Ethics refers to the standards and norms that makes distinguish between right and wrong.
This element is very essential that needs to be understood by the researcher in order to make the
research study valid and authentic. Following are given the ethical considerations which needs to
be considered by the researcher while the whole process of research study.
