INTRODUCTION
Business function refers to the various activities which is performed by the business
organisation. These activities are divided into several functions ow departments so that the
organisation is able to achieve its objectives and goals. It is very important for the organisations
to manage their functions because they are interrelated and interdependent on each other. Tesco
Plc is a British multinational groceries and general merchandise retailer which is headquartered
in Welwyn Garden city, England(Malini and Srinivas, 2020). This report will include the
functions of the business organisations and how they are interrelated to each other.

Every business functions perform various activities in order to achieve the objectives of
the business organisation. There are departments which have different set of goals which is
discussed below.
Role of marketing department concern about promoting of the goods and services and ensuring
the availability of the customers for the business organisations. Tesco meeds to ensure that the
marketing department is following the market trend and the customer preferences in order to
increase the sales volume of the company(Kumar, 2018).
Role of operations is a key function of the business organisations. It is concerned about the
production and manufacturing of the goods. Tesco should ensure that this function is working
smoothly and manage its supply chains in order to meet the customers needs.
Role of finance department id to manage all the finances resources and allocating them to
different departments of the business organisation. Tesco needs to ensure that its finance
department is keeping the record of the monetary transactions and is able to manage the budget
so that if in future the company wants to expand its business. It will help the company to manage
its budgets in the development and expansion.
Role of human resource department is to identify the right skilled candidates for the job role of
the business organisation. Also it need to ensure about the training and development of the
employees. Tesco needs to ensure that the HR department is able to find the right people and is
able to achieve its goals and objectives(MU, 2019).

the company to recruit the talented and skilled workforce and the operations departments
maintain the logistics and supply chain of the company in order to meet the customers
