Reflective Statement
The reflective statement is given with the help of reflective model. The Gibbs Reflective Cycle is
one of the important techniques that helps to analyses the experiences and events critically and
systematically. This reflective framework used to identify the various factors in order to adjust
plans and actions accordingly. It is basically means learning from experience. This method is
introduced as the path of promoting the professional and personal development growth. This
model was first identified in the year of 1988 in which it is divided into six steps such as
Description, Feelings, Evaluation, Analysis, Conclusion and Action Plan.
Description: In this first stage I have to make the presentation on implementing
strategies of the choosing company. Therefore, I have the chosen the company as Tesco,
which is British multinational company in retail sector. I have analysed the company’s
performance by identifying opportunities, gapes in strategies and well established
strategies of the company as well. I have done this with the help of BCG matrix with
reference to Tesco company. In the BCG matrix of Tesco, I have analysed the Stars, Cash
Cows, Question Marks and Dogs parameter of the company. For this purpose, I took the
help of internet to analyse the background details of the company such as product details
and marketing strategies through company’s websites.
Feelings: In the second stage of Gibbs reflective model what I felt is that company is
major threats in case of economic instability and heavy competition by brands like ASDA
and Sainsburys. I felt comfortable during the research due to the easily availability of
facts and findings on the company’s website. I also found that the company is taking care
customers by handling their queries and complaints smoothly. I found myself involved
during presentation on implementing strategies due to having interest in presentation.
Evaluation: In this stage I proposed the various strategies for market expansion and that
is praised by the people. For the evaluation purpose I took the feedback from the people
about the presentation and whether they liked the implementation strategies or not. The
outcome was good. I used the Microsoft Power Point for presentation, pen and paper.
Analysis: In this stage I have collected the feedback from the people and analysed them.
I found that professional presentation format worked. I choose the professional format for
presentation which helped me to highlight main points rather than unnecessary details. I
used the font as Times New Roman which was clearly visible and understandable.
Conclusions: From this presentation I proposed various strategies to expand new market
opportunities with the help of BCG matrix and power point presentation tools. During
this process of presentation, I have learned research techniques along with writing skills.
Action Plan: In the final stage of Gibbs reflection model, it identifies the process of
implementing proposed strategies. The presentation took a day to complete which
includes the strategies for business plan as reference with the choosing company as
Tesco. The main objective of this presentation is to enhance the capability of an
individual.
