INTRODUCTION
Organization theory is basically a set of principles and concepts which provides a proper
framework to organization in various aspects. It includes systematic study of performance,
structure and functioning of organization. In aspect of various organizational theories it support
the organization to develop the strong relationship with all customer segments for long time.
Here the chosen company is TESCO and the headquarter of this firm is situated in UK
(Abukhait, Bani-Melhem and Zeffane, 2019). The company was established in 1919 and they are
dealing with wide range of products which includes furniture, home appliances, grocery items,
etc. The report will covered evaluate the organization structure and culture of selected
organisation, how they impact the way the company is being managed. It also covers are the
employees of the organization motivated adequately to achieve the organizational goals, evaluate
whether the company is performing well or not because of the approaches that they are
undertaking. It further covers use appropriate examples and theory to justify your stance.
Organization theory is also refer to the study of team working and single person within the
company and also described that in which manner the structure of organization is strongly
developed.

Organization structure -
Organization structure is basically refer to those activities which assist the firm to
sustaining their vision, mission and objectives in long term. Those activities are task allocation,
supervision and coordination and with help of these functions organization is also able to
increase the productivity of employees at maximum level. Organization structure also impact the
different activities of TESCO and provides the framework in aspect of maintaining standard
operating procedure. Organization structure have various types which is described below -
Hierarchical organization structure – It is basically a chart of pyramid shaped
organization and the other name of this type of organization is hierarchical organizational
structure. It is the most common structure which is used by all types of organization for
run their functions smoothly. In context to TESCO, management must use this structure

to monitor the performance of lower level employees effectively on regular basis. It leads
to increase the work efficiency of firm at maximum level.
Flat organizational structure Flat organizational structure is also known as
hierarchical organization structure. This structure fits the organization with some levels
between upper and lower workers. At the time of start-up different types of firm utilized
horizontal organization structure for accomplishing the task with support of various types
of department. But in aspect specific companies they manage this structure that means it
motivates less supervision and high involvement from all workers.
Functional organizational structure – It is similar like the hierarchical organization
structure (Adomako, Amankwah‐Amoah and Danso, 2019). In this structure the activities
of organization is begins with high responsibilities and high post at the top and going
down from there. Primarily the workers of organization are recognized on the basis of
their effective talent and their corresponding activity in the organization.
Organization culture
Organization culture is defined as the positive attitude, behaviour and culture of firm
which is maintained by the higher authority in workplace area between employees. Due to
maintaining positive behaviour with workers, overall performance and work efficiency of
company is highly enhanced within short time. The organization is consist of different types of
belief and values which is developed by company manager and then coordinated by using
various types of methods -
Charles handy model of culture is a type of model which is utilized by firm for
sustaining their mission, vision and objectives in long term. Due to the effective use of this type
of culture organization is able to increase the motivational level of their workers at higher rate. In
this way the positive result of the company is easily sustained for long time in market. This
model mainly consist of four stages which is described below -
Power – There are different types of companies where all types of powers are sustained
in the hands of those people who comes in the level of higher authority. Only those types
of peoples have the authority for enjoying the special privileges at the workplace. In
organization such a type of people plays the important role for increasing the success rate

type of culture subordinates did not have any option but they need to follow the
instructions of their supervisor strictly.
Task culture – In this type of culture top level management developed the strong team
for solving difficult issues and also for achieving the targets in time. With help of
developing various teams work efficiency and productivity is enhanced effectively. In
such type of firm with common specializations and passion gathered together for forming
a group. In every team mostly five to six members are there. In this culture every single
person contribute their effort in equal way for accomplishing the work in prescribed time
(Akbar, French and Lawson, 2019).
Role culture – This culture is basically related with the delegation of employees in their
their job roles and duties according to their educational qualification, specialization and
interest. In this culture workers made a decision in aspect of what they can do willingly
accept the challenge. In this culture every worker is qualified for doing any type of task
and also ready for taking ownership of the work which is provided to them. Power is
come basically in the form of various roles and responsibilities in this type of culture.
Person culture – There are various types of organization where workers have the feeling
that they are the most important asset for company. This type of organization followed
the specific culture which is called person culture. In this type of culture individual is
highly considered about their own needs rather than the company. In this type of culture
employees takes the back seat and eventually suffers. Here workers comes to office
without any type of interest and also for taking money in time which leads to decrease the
goodwill of firm at maximum level.

After the analysis of above data it is understood that proper infrastructure is highly
important for organization In respect of TESCO, out of the above mentioned organizational
structures authority need to apply the hierarchical organization structure. Because in this type of
structure responsibilities and duties, positions and obligations are effectively distributed in
systematic way. There are various companies where workers have the feeling that they are the
highly important asset within company. Such type of companies need to follow person culture. In
aspect of person culture here individuals are highly concerned about their own needs rather than
the benefits of company. In such type of culture employees select the back seat for their own

purpose. Here employee come to the office for taking their wage correctly in time not for doing
the work. Due to the effective use of right organizational structure organization is able to
facilitate standards quality goods to consumers in time. With help of utilising this structure
employees of company is able to accomplish the multiple task in time. The other effect in
context of managing the employees of organization is that here task is done systematic manner
effectively. In this way illegal activities are easily decreased at higher rate from the side of lower
level employees. Because for completing different types of work approval is essential from top
level management in written format. Therefore, in this structure organization is able to manage
all categories of employees and their whole departmental functions in legal way.
From the analysis of above information it is concluded that role culture is suitable to
TESCO (Hetemi, Ordieres and Nuur, 2022). This culture is very effective and essential in aspect
of sustaining the motivational levels of workers effectively. Due to the effective utilization of
role culture responsibilities and duties are highly defined for workers in their minds. With help of
this culture performance and profit margin of firm is increased within short time. The main
purpose of using this culture by TESCO is to providing positive work culture to all categories of
workers in their workplace area. Due to providing positive work culture to employees, they are
able to completing their duties and responsibilities in time. When organization do their work
systematically then their services and goods are delivered to all customer segments quickly and
in time. With help of this culture the strong communication are easily maintained between
employee and employer for long time.

with full interest and energy. Second one is with help of effective use of organizational culture
and role culture positive relationship is strongly maintained between company and customer or
employee and employer for long duration. Third one is when employees or organization do their
work systematically then, the complicated problems of lower level employee and customers are
solved in time. In this way the satisfaction level of the customers and employees are easily
sustained towards company for long time. Fourth one is when workers fulfil their job role and

controlling their workers in their business functions are motivational approach, teamwork and
leadership.
Motivational approach – It is basically a motivational approach which is utilized by company
for increasing the performance and productivity level of their workers at maximum level
(Howieson, Burnes and Summers, 2019). The suitable theory which is connected to this
approach is Maslow's motivation theory and due to using this theory company is able to fulfil the
requirements of their employees in time. According to this theory the needs and desires of the
employees are fulfilled in five stages.
Psychological needs – It is related with those type of requirements which comes under
the stage of basic necessities and this includes cloths, food, air, water and others. But
these type of needs are fulfilled only when company provides effective financial support
to them. In respect of TESCO, authority must provide decent wage to their workers
which is essential for sustaining effective performance level for long duration.
Safety needs – It is related with those requirements which is highly important for
enhancing the physical and mental of their workers. Therefore, it is mandatory for the
higher authority of TESCO that they must facilitate strong infrastructure to their workers

and ability of employees are highly increased. Due to this employees are able to handle
any type of difficult task effectively.
Teamwork – It is basically refer to the group of department or one department and in this group
number of persons are participated as an team for conducting the work in systematic manner.
With help of conducting team assessment from top level management within company the skills
of the employees are effectively polished and also assist to increase their confidence level
effectively. In this approach management of TESCO is focused on applying Tuckman model for
enhancing effectiveness in their business activities. This model is basically consist of five stages
which includes forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning. Due to considering
all these stages the activities of the firm are easily run in smooth and systematic way. It is highly
important and useful for sharing various types of informations with each other.
Leadership - Leadership is consider with those actions which is utilized by the manager of
TESCO for run their functions effectively. Due to the use of suitable leadership style
management is able to provide proper and right direction to the workers regarding their job roles
and responsibilities. In this way organization is able to maintain their vision, mission and
objectives in long term. There are different types of leadership styles which is consider by
organization and it includes affiliative, bureaucratic, autocratic and others. But out of these

After the evaluation of above data it is concluded that the overall performance and
functions of the firm is worked effectively. Because here the overall structure TESCO is
effectively and systematically developed (Ivanov and Dolgui, 2021). The other for saying that
the activities of the organization in effective manner is that management always maintained
positive work culture in their workplace. In this way the communication and coordination
between all categories of workers are effectively maintained for long time.

easily send to users within low time. Then the second responsibility is that keep regular
supervision on the performance of lower level workers. Because due to regular supervision their
problems are easily identified within short duration. Then according to their problems firm is
able to facilitate effective training to them which leads to increase their overall performance at
maximum level. Then third duty is to establish proper infrastructure which is important to
employees for conducting their job role with full passion and interest. Effective infrastructure
also assist the employees for producing standard and high quality product according to the needs
and desires of customers. The other advantage for using effective infrastructure is that strong
supply chain management is formed

From the evaluation of above information it concludes that both motivational approach
and organizational structure plays the major role for increasing the goodwill of organization at
higher rate. Due to the proper utilization of both these elements effective communication is
easily maintained between all levels of department. Effective organization structure also assist
the firm for increasing the reach of their services and products globally to all customer segments.
Due to increasing their service and product reach their profit and market share are easily
increased for long time. It also helps to sustain positive relationship between company and
