Contemporary issue in managing workforce
There are number of challenges that management facing in relation workers. COVID has
highly impacted the way in which business run or done by organisation for example: now a days’
work from home started in different firm which increase tension of monitoring and controlling
performance of workers (Aithal, 2017). Tesco is one well known retail company but because of
pandemic its workforce planning and strategy highly effected and which decreasing its market
share in hence impacting on growth of organisation.
Decreased Performance
Tesco facing major issue in reduce in work power efficiency because of that company not
able to set future plan. Pandemic has created work from home culture but most of time
employees remain busy in their own work and pending organisation task that are allotted to them
which make them lazy and hence work quality also compromised (Strydom and Rudansky-
Kloppers, 2016). It become difficult management to focus on large number of workers at a time
and hence work culture disturb which was started before the pandemic. It become difficult to
adjust with employees using online channels as many take it as advantage for example: some of
workers in firm said that connectivity is poor so that they are not able to complete work and
managers has trust them as it is also an issue that facing in present work-culture. Laziness again
a major problem people thinks that they will complete activity in night which was allotted to
them in morning and if the client is expecting early completion of activities then they are
unsatisfied and hence which effected firm’s business. Online working culture is very new for
employees as well as management and number of mistakes by workforce created a issue for the
organisation.

from home. However, government giving amount if they unable to work because of pandemic

Decreasing number of talented and skilled workforce becomes another issue for Tesco’s
management. People avoid store as well as manufacturing jobs because number of people visit

organisation recruited number of talented and skilled workforce which can help in reducing work
pressure but they are unskilled and hence effected on efficiency, quality and productivity of
Tasks. Organisation not able to provide work from home culture and if providing then it will be
in shift such as for 15days employees has to be at work station and hence no one willing to work
in such types of condition. Although talented and skilled employees also affected from COVID
and replacing them with new staff is another challenge for organisation. Tesco profit share
reduces and hence it is not providing incentives, increment, promotion etc. which leads to
migration of workforce to another company and hence firm remains shortage of skilled and
talented workforce and it become difficult for management to work in such situation.

Supply chain management become unorganised because of workload and there are
number of times wrongly delivery annoyed customers. There are number of orders while field
staff is limited and hence it increase pressure for management to improve customer satisfaction
level as per it. It also affected to contact them all in case location are changed and orders are
cancel as sometimes internet issue do not send proper details (Adekola and Sergi, 2016).

pandemic firm not able to effective supply chain management strategy. Online website remains
busy which created problem of reaching to customer on time and impact on firms business.

less interactive and participative after pandemic they avoid meeting, discussion etc. Lock down
again effected on work-culture people for example: most of meetings held online where people
do not feel part of association. Employees following individualistic approach in work which
created challenged for management to achieve higher goals by team participation and hence
