Church shooting has become really a commonplace issue in these days. On December 29,
2019 the church shooting in Texas was one of the gruesome events that took place. This essay
will look to recognize the background reasons for the shooting in Texas and further
investigations that were carried out by the police department (Ellis et al.). The unfortunate
shooting in the church was condemned by all ranks in the society. The death of two persons was
confirmed.
The preview of the incident has already been given in the above introduction. More
details would be given in the paper since it has been highly debated all round the American
society. The newspaper sources and videos through the CCTV cameras will work as the most
important sources to highlight on this incident (San et al.). According to the news sources, it had
been revealed that a man clad in black coat took out his gun within the church premises and short
at random people. The purpose of this shooting is yet to be known as the newspaper sources had
claimed. The caught-on-tape shootout was in the process and that person had been slain down by
the parishioners (Ellis et al.). The event took place in the morning mass at the Church at
Houston, Texas. This bloodshed came to action when the mass services at the church was still
pursuing around 10.50 am. This event had been live streamed from that Christian Church on
YouTube. The killer was wearing the black hat, large coat and a bushy black beard. He entered
the church through the rear part of the church and sat alone in a pew. Then he stood up and then
approached a person who was standing near the wall. The killer open shot two men in the middle
of the church before he was killed by gun shots by an FBI agent who worked as a security
parishioner in that church (Fedschun).
This section will draw the attention of the readers since the probable reason for this attack
will be described. The newspaper articles have also worked on getting more information into this

matter (McGee and Zaveri). The West Freeway Church was the venue of the event and Police
Chief J.P. Bevering was trying to make the overall investigation of this whole matter. It has been
found that the killer used a shotgun and 2 parishioners were killed through this sudden attack.
According to the FBI agent who shot down the threat was not able to identify the shooter. Still he
said that killer was "relatively transient with roots to this area" (Ellis et al.). That killer had also
been arrested by the police in different municipalities in the region. Matthew DeSamo, the FBI
agent also said that this killer was not on any sort of watch list nor the police was searching for
him in any case. However, Mr. DeSamo had confirmed that the police investigators were still
trying to find out the ways through which more details could be fetched (Salo and Sheehy). They
also assured the common people that it will be found out if any kind of ideology had driven him
to do this kind of act.
After considering all the information found through the above sections, it must be
inserted in this section that there must be some kind of ideology that drive him to commit the
violent behavior (McGee and Zaveri). After this incident, the use of guns in public places and
approvals from government for gun licensing has again come to the forefront. Many social critics
have already questioned on this issue several times and they feel random people should not be
allowed to use guns. This will only cater to more violence and outrageous activities in the society
(Chau). Further investigation is still going on to find out the actual purpose of this work. It is also
significant to find out if the shooter had killed his targeted victims or killed random people just
to inflict the sense of fear (Salo and Sheehy). More investigation will be carried on regarding this
incident. Still, the question of social security of the common people must be questioned under
this sort of scenario. If people are not safe in places of worship, their social security is indeed
under several questions.

In the concluding part of the paper, it must be highlighted that the social protection of
common people was under serious threat in the Texas church shooting at West Freeway Church.
The investigations are still going on to identify the reasons of this shooting. Though the killer
was shot down by security parishioners, the security has to be tightened without any doubt.
