________________________________________________________________
Introduction
I am Kelly Book, Dean of the Communications Department at Conestoga College. I am writing to
inform you about the issues encountered in the textbook for one of the Communication
courses. I have looked into the Communications textbook, and I am worried that this textbook
has certain issues, which is disturbing me. Moreover, I am not able to take the right decision,
whether to consider this textbook for the semester or not. I want immediate actions to be
taken by assigning a team of students to investigate the issues. I also want you to mention the
number of books required for the upcoming semester. I am sending you this report to ask you
to look into the issues encountered in the textbook.
Background
The Communications textbooks were sent to Kelly book, Dean of the Communications
Department at Conestoga College, who found that there are some issues in the textbook. She
immediately contacted the Bookstore Manager, Dave Black, who has provided a list of people
who have the required information. She wants a team of students to investigate the issues, by

Document Page
I have searched the issues in one of the communications textbook, to resolve the issues. A team
of students are selected, to carry out investigation of the issues, where relevant information are
collected, so that Kelly can decide what actually has to be done.
There are videos and transcripts in eConestoga that capture the interviews for each person:
Dave Black, Bookstore Manager
Matt Hoan, Instructor, Effective Writing Strategies
Hector Mead, Administrative Assistant
Dave Black and Hector Mead have provided the following additional documentation:
Enrolment and Registration Reports for COMM 1234

If the textbook contains mistakes, it is not right to issue the textbooks for the students. Because
it will contains mistakes which they will not be aware of. The instructors will be informed about
the same issue with the textbook, and ask them to take care till the issues are rectified. It is
observed that, the textbook need to be addressed with effective writing. Once the issues in the
textbook are rectified and resolved, I can take appropriate decision related to the
communication textbook for the students. Additionally, I will be tension free, so please make
arrangements and resolve the issue with effective investigation. The interviews of the listed
people are very important for the investigation.
Conclusions
We believe that effective actions will be taken and all the requirements will be met as soon as
possible. We can discuss and decide on the finalized textbook once this investigation is
completed. I will have a follow up with you.
Till textbook is reviewed and the issues are investigated, the instructors will be informed about
the same issue with the textbook, and ask them to take care till the issues are rectified. Finally, I
hope that the textbook’s issues will be addressed and resolved with effective writing and
supervision. Please also mention the number of books required for the upcoming semester.
I look forward to seeing you at the next meeting. Please let me know if you have any questions
about the textbook.
