university people. The purpose behind the session was to make people aware of the high
influence of the texting language as developed by young generation.

need people to chill with”, use of “slash” draws the attention of people (TED, 2013).
Q3. Yes, the video presented some of the example or use of rhetorical strategies by
the speaker in the discussion, were found effective in attracting the audience. The speaker
made his arguments successful because he highlighted well the difference in the use of
language between people in the older age and the young people in the present scenario.
Q4. To summarise the whole discussion, it can be stated that the whole concept of
texting has been changed and now people are more used to with the use of words, slangs and
others. He concluded that there is something more in the aspect of ‘texting’ culturally, and
linguistically both, leading to creation of miracles, and energy amongst youth (TED, 2013).
Q5. Yes, I agree with the perspective of the McWhorter, as he described the
importance of language, and texting benefits in a number of different ways to the people in
different situations. In addition, he mentioned that the aspect of texting does not actually lead
to fall of literacy or at least the writing ability of people.
Thesis Statement
The thesis statement refers to the statement which tells the reader, about the ways to
interpret the meaning and relative significance of the subject matter under the discussion
(Miller & Pessoa, 2016). Thus, the thesis statement under the assignment will be developed
in context to the questions listed in the requirements:
C. Should parents have the right to remove their children from elementary school if
they disagree with the changes to the sex-ed curriculum? Why or why not?
Sex-ed curriculum is the education relating to informing people about the issues related to the
human sexuality.

Parents must not be given right to the remove or withdraw their children from elementary,
on the base of disagreement to the changes in sex-ed curriculum. This is due to the reason
that elementary education is important because children learn basic skills such as reading,
writing, and math. However, with acquiring these skills, they would be able to understand,
analyse and accepts the changes in the sex-education given to them.
I. Should College English be a mandatory course? Why or why not?
English course is mandatory and must be followed in college and universities because it
helps individuals/students in enhancing their professional development and communication
skills for personal growth and development. The technique and concepts of language, and
skills are learned through the English courses, facilitate in smoother writing, reading and
public speaking.
