2.1 Analysing theories, principles and models
of communication
Communication is the way of having and transferring information and is an important
aspect for forming relation with the learners.
It is important to remove all the barriers coming in the way of effective
communication.
Proper understanding is developed with the key principles and models involved in
communication.

Transactional model
In this model of communication, the receiver and sender will have interchanged roles.
It is also known as circular model for communication.
It means that the sender can become the receiver and vice versa, during a particular
time of communication.
It is the most common type of communication model used in the day to day life.
Examples of transaction model used for communication includes having a face to face
meeting with the students, having an interactive training session where the students will
be sharing their ideas and comments.

Communication cycle
Communication cycles involves conveying and
receiving the messages in an easy to understand
format.
It begins with the formation of ideas displayed by
the sender and then transmitting this message with a
medium to the receiver.
For example, between teacher and student, there
should be two way communication in which both of
them shared the views and understand about a
specific topic as well.

Johari window
This is a technique that is used to help the students
learn in a better way and develop own weak areas
pertaining to relevant topic
There are four quadrants involved in the Johari
window for communication.
Open self is about the information that and
individual knows along with others.

2.2 Use of theories, models and principles of
communication within teaching, learning and
assessing
Communication is the key by which teacher and students will respond.
 Every individual follows a different way for communication.
 There are various types of communication models to be applied within teaching,
learning and assessing.
There is verbal and non- verbal ways of communication.
 Verbal communication is used with words that are passed across different ideas either
through student or teacher
