Seeing:
Upon having a view of the overall situation of Rosie, I felt pity on her, as for a single
mother it is too tough to hold on such critical situation without any support. The situation
demanded the consent of the mental capacity act in order to identify that weather Rosie is
able to handle the mental stress of losing her kid. In the certain case, Rosie has opted for
palliative care to provide a quality life for her kid in his end phase of life. Based on her
mental capacity I as a nurse can decide to hold her decision after seeing that she has opted for
such decision with all of her senses and will.
Doing:
The primary things I need to do, as a nurse is to seek for empathy, compassion and
education. Showing of empathy will help her to be psychologically strong and can build her
strong to stay sane in her hard times. Being compassionate to her will provide relief that at
least someone is staying by her side when all her family members had already withdrawn
their support by her side. Moreover, as a nurse I should be providing her with the adequate
education and knowledge of the situation, regarding the state of her son. It is quite possible
that Rosie had opted for the decision of palliative care as she was too disheartened with the
state of her son and could not bear his pain. The provision of the education, that there still
might be certain chances that where providing of treatment can save life of her son can make
up her mid to change her decision from providing palliative care to reinstall the courses of
chemotherapies and other treatments (Mojen et al., 2017).
Thinking:
The present state made me think that the call for end of life phase have might arrived
to a lack of opportunities to provide treatment when ample time was remaining and due to
delay in diagnosis. Moreover being a single mother, she might not have been able to afford

further better quality of treatment approach. These are common happenings which cost
several lives during the treatment of cancer. Moreover one thought also prevails that is quite
rare in case of a mother son relation is that, might be due to lack of financial infrastructure
and non-affordability of such high costs of cancer treatment, certain decisions have been
taken by Rosie at the stage where she is (Ling et al., 2016).
Feeling:
As a nurse, I felt that I need to be her constant companion to give her moral support,
which can help her in gaining psychological support. The phase Rosie is going through is
quite critical and in certain situations, mental breakdown is quite common. Empathizing her
and being her compassionate companion can help her staying normal at her hard times and
can provide her support as a family member, which she is lacking after losing her only
family. This grief of Rosie, however, cannot be shared with anyone, although supporting
during her mental breakdown and major loss can help her in saving from being prone to
mental disparity.
