Third sector organizations are basically voluntary organizations which are non-profit
based and are independent of the government. These organizations raise funds and generate
financial surpluses to invest them, in social cause for the people, environmental activities and
cultural objectives. These organizations comprise Charities, Voluntary and community
organizations, social enterprises and cooperatives, housing association etc. This report will
highlight the work of third sector organization and different activities performed by them. The
report will also include benefits and barriers for Third sector organization in their operations.

Community engagement refers to the way of access of community members in social
settings and activities, and their contribution to these activities as well as their participation in
voluntary organizations. Community engagement benefits Third sector organization by getting
improved consumer and community satisfaction. It also leads to greater community ownership

health services. Community engagement also initiates greater accountability for public funds as
well as improve the quality services of Third sector organizations.
