INTRODUCTION
Third sector organizations are basically voluntary organizations which are non-profit
based and are independent of the government. These organizations raise funds and generate
financial surpluses to invest them, in social cause for the people, environmental activities and
cultural objectives. These organizations comprise Charities, Voluntary and community
organizations, social enterprises and cooperatives, housing association etc. This report will
highlight the work of third sector organization and different activities performed by them. The
report will also include benefits and barriers for Third sector organization in their operations.
MAIN BODY
Community engagement refers to the way of access of community members in social
settings and activities, and their contribution to these activities as well as their participation in
voluntary organizations. Community engagement benefits Third sector organization by getting
improved consumer and community satisfaction. It also leads to greater community ownership
and investment. It enables Third sector organization in greater community responsiveness in
health services. Community engagement also initiates greater accountability for public funds as
well as improve the quality services of Third sector organizations.
Third sector organization support various groups and communities of people in society.
They support the old age groups, children, animal health care and environmental protection
groups and many more. They are been developed to benefit for the social cause and improvement
in the well-being of the society. They have been oftenly functioning to provide the voluntary
services to the society for its betterment and for the humanity sake(Creamer, 2015) . This helps
the society to get improved and create a living environment for the individual and groups in it.
Third sector organization does the job of filling the gaps between the public and private
sector organization. They create the employment opportunities by involving more individuals in
their organization to work for them and this increases the employment level in the economy
which is the common gap between the private and public sectors. Also, the private sector
performs its activities on profit basis, as well as public sector perform their activities on social
basis and then profit here the voluntary organizations such as charitable hospital provide free
services for those individuals where both private and public sectors cannot act due to lack of
revenues to be earned from the individual. In this way the third sector organization fulfills the
gaps between the public sector and private sector organizations(Fronek, and Chester, 2016) .

Voluntary organizations also work for the legal issues and advises to the people suffering
from injustice in society and households. They act as a legal adviser for their human rights and
helps them in acquiring these rights on the injustice caused to them.
Third sector organizations also performs as a rehabilitation centers that provides services
to the needy and work for social cause. These organizations operate as rehabilitation centers and
treat all the patients in low or free of cost as in order to benefit the society and give rise to the
social cause for the community. The retired doctors and other specialist join the organizations
and helps to operate it and provide services to the people for the betterment of the society.
Various mental health care are been also operated under charitable trust as for the sake of
needy and poor people. These health cares provide the accommodation for mental patients who
cannot afford the big private hospitals and health care. The services are been provided without
any charge from the people and thus for the sake of betterment and well-being of society. This
also provides assistance for the poor communities in the society and help them to acquire the
services.
Third sector organization also consists such groups that provides home care for children
and the orphanage facility for those children who have no parents. They provide the basic
amenities to the orphanage children that includes their food, clothing, education and other basic
facilities. This is done for the good cause for these children as they get assistant and all the
necessities for life. It mainly enhances the well-being for those communities children and better
cause for the society and community(Selander, 2015).
Voluntary organizations are non-profit organizations, but they generally provide the
employment opportunities to various people which helps them to function their activities. They
need good employees to manage these organizations hence they provide employment and
improve the standard of living for the needy people.
Third sector as being more concerned about society and communities are also involved in
public services and mainly focuses on the facilities to be provided to general public. They deal in
providing ambulance services to those regions where the service is not available so that people
may get benefit through it during the emergency. The organization provides the health care
facilities to the people where the facilities can't be reached by the government and private sector
cannot reach. They provide the health check ups and health care camps to spread the awareness
of health related issues being faced by the people and communities in the society. They deal in

providing free basic check ups to the needy and poor people for their betterment and healthy
life(Chaperon, 2017). They work in coordination with public sectors and perform as per their
instructions and along with their common objectives for the society benefits.
Voluntary organizations deals in various services to the communities like mentoring and
career guidance facilities for the students. This help the young generation and students to achieve
their life and career goals and improve their education standards as well.
There are several benefits and advantages to the general public, communities and the
society out of this voluntary organizations. The people form poor community are the main
gainers of the benefits from voluntary organization. They get the benefits like the availability of
the common facilities such as hospitals, health care services, animal protection centers,
rehabilitation centers(Brown, and et.al., 2017). The students and the youths also get several
advantages such as career guidance, education improvement and other career related facilities
that are very much beneficial to them. The people are also benefited with several legal advice
and the human rights for the sake of domestic violence or any sort of injustice caused in the
society. The people are benefited as in the form of employment opportunities being created by
Third sector organizations as well as fill the gaps between the public and private sector
organizations.
Barriers of third sector organization
Barriers are the problems or difficulties faced by third sector organization and which
hampers the working and operations of the company (Yan, Lin and Clarke, 2018). There are
many barriers which the third sector organization faces like the major barrier is that as the third
sector organization are non- profit or charity organization so the employees of the organization
some times resists doing the work effectively and efficiently. Another major barrier is the
funding of the organization. As it is a voluntary organization so it is run by group of individual
and is majorly run by either their personal funds or by way of charity or donations. It is very
difficult for the organization to raise funds for proper working of the company.
The another major barrier is that there are many statutory bodies which governs the
working and operations of the company. Compliance with so many laws and rules and
regulations it is very difficult for voluntary organization to work effectively. Another barrier is
the poor quality data and reporting system as used by voluntary organizations also affects the
working of business.

Payments
All the money and funds used by the third sector organization is raised by either the
personal funds and savings of the people who have started the organization. The another option
of raising funds and money it to either go for charity or for donations or for bank loans.
All this money and its usage is monitored and evaluated by Charity Law and Regulations,
United Kingdom (Mullins, Milligan and Nieboer, 2018). This statutory and governing body
administers the complete work of the organization and it works for the development of laws and
regulations which relates to charity.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it is summarized regarding the detailed study of Third sector
organization and all its activities related to the social cause for community and society. The
report also studied the work of Third sector organization in relation to various components and
explained how the organization words comprising on all the activities discussed in the report.
