Effective leadership contains a strong character of a leader. Ineffective leadership, a
leader demonstrates trustworthiness, honesty, integrity, and ethics. An effective leader is the
human being with a passion for a reason, which is more significant than they are. Without
passion, the leader cannot take essential bold and difficult decisions (McCrimmon, 2019).This
paper will discuss the effective leaders and their leadership style, consequences of the leadership
approach of an effective leader, consistency of the individual's leadership style and thoughts of
effective leadership.
Certain people had practical leadership approaches. Name of those people is Mahatma
Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Napoleon Bonaparte, Adolph Hitler, and Florence Nightingale. The
leadership style of Mahatma Gandhi and Napoleon Bonaparte will be discussed. Mahatma
Gandhi was a transformational leader. As a leader, he led by the example and empowered his
followers to make them better(Palshikar, 2007). To be a transformational leader, a person can
follow several other approaches. However, Mahatma Gandhi influenced his followers by setting
up an example of his own. Napoleon Bonaparte delivered what has been promised by him. This
initiative of Napoleon helped him to manage the expectation of his followers. The leadership
styles of this effective leader influence the followers, and they followed the leadership of
Napoleon Bonaparte (Kaleem, Asad & Khan, 2013).
Florence Nightingale was an effective leader who transformed herself as a leader who led
her followers by focus, courage, advocacy and deliberate pursuits. Through her effective
leadership, she helped the nursing practice to go forward (Girvin, 1998). On the other hand,
Adolph Hitler was one of the most effective leaders who preferred to command personally.
According to his leadership approach, the ultimate authority must be controlled by Hitler and the
power will be extended downward. The superior should give orders to the subordinates, and the

essential, and these leaders were capable of building trust. These leaders were capable of taking
the risk to achieve a goal. Through an innovative way, these leaders manage obstacles. To lead
others, these leaders established their ethics and value. These leaders were strategic and were
able to implement strategy appropriately. They made a balance of hard truth with hope and
optimism. They motivated other followers with the help of confidence.
Canadian leadership study evaluates the role of nursing leadership in the hospital. The
organizational changes have transformed the nursing leadership style and role (Cna-aiic.ca,
2019).With these changes, the main chief executive related to nursing took extra responsibilities,
and another no longer had the operational line responsibilities of the nursing services. These
changes provide opportunity for the nurses to participate in the decision making procedure
(Longwoods.com, 2019).However, these changes weaken the communication link between the
senior nurse leader and other nurses.
Leaders and managers are not same. Leaders have people who will follow the leader. On
the other hand, managers have people and those people work for the manager. Leader delivers
vision for the follower, while manager implements the way to achieve the vision. However, to
