Introduction
The main purpose of this report is to show the standards of GRI in the company Timberwell
Constructions. Timberwell construction is an infrastructure company which builds several
apartments in the district of Stanwell Council. This report shows the financial implication and
opportunities and other risks which take place in the company because of climate change. This
report also shows the several incidents of corruptions which take place in the company and the
various actions taken by the organization against those corruptions. This report shows the HR
strategy adopted by the organization in order to hire new employees and to increase the retention
rate of the employees.

Economic sustainability
Financial implications and other risks and opportunities
Timberwell construction has many development sites in the district of Stanwell. Due to climate
change and hot and dry weather, there will be a risk of bushfires in those areas. Bushfires can
cause several damages to the properties of Timberwell construction. The main cause behind the
bushfire is because of the hot and dry temperature (Head, et. al., 2014). This activity is most
common in Australia because of the high temperature. Due to bushfires, the company can face
several financial crises. In order to overcome such a situation, the company is planning to protect
the areas with the help of bushfires prone.
The company can implement bushfire prone under the proposed LEP amendment. This prone
will take effect in the next several weeks. This bushfire prone can protect the areas of the site
from any kind of bushfire. This will save the company from any kind of financial crisis. Using of
bushfire prone can cost the company approx. $4 million which is a huge amount. Company is
planning to reduce this cost by engaging their firm with another town. This plan will cost the
company approx. $50,000 which a quite less as compared to the cost of implementing the
bushfire-prone (Sharples, et. al., 2016).
This will provide various opportunities to the firm like they can expand their business more in
other towns, this will enhance the productivity of the organization, the company will not have to
worry about and risks related to bushfires which will enhance the growth of the company.
Incidents of corruption and action were taken against those corruptions
There was an incident of corruption which take place in the company in which five employees of
the organization and the two external business partners of the company gave bribes to the
officers of council projects (Hanapiyah, et. al., 2016). These people gave bribes to the officers in
order to pass the approval of company development application in the council process. This was
the big incident of the corruption which took place in the company. Dennis who is a former
employee of the company has charged this complaint to the state corruption commission in order
to reveal this scandal. After the investigation, all five employees and the other two business
partners off the company founded guilty (Mark Rosenbaum, et. al., 2013). As a result, legal

action was taken against them and the company suspended all the employees without paying
them a single penny. Timberwell also cancels the contract of partnership with the other two
business partners and boycotted them from the company.
Legal actions for anti-competitive behavior, anti-trust, and monopoly practices
Company is conducting anti-competitive activities such as doing some exclusive dealings and
misusing of market power. This operations of the company are not legal and the former
employee of the company Dennis fired a complaint to the several authorities of government
about the same (Gurkaynak, et. al., 2013). Australia Competitor and Consumer Commission
(ACCC) has taken this case into the court on the basis of this complaint fired by Dennis. The
case file against the company was regarding conducting the alleged anti-competitive activities in
the company.
Several builders of the company were planning to manufacture a new company in order to
establish a new development company so that they will be able to generate more profits. ACCC
has warned the company to stop such activities otherwise they will take serious actions against
the company. In response to the threat given by the ACCC, senior executives of the company
Timberwell has warned their suppliers and contractors that their contract with the company will
be withdrawn if there will be any involvement of them with the new development company
(Katsoulacos and Ulph, 2013).
ACCC thinks that company is doing this purposely in order to expand their business in the strict
of Stanwell and as a RESULT, ACCC has filed a case against the company in the federal court
and the whole case going to be heard by the court in the next few months.

Environmental sustainability
Energy consumption within the organization
In order to improve the image of the company in the state, the company is decided to issue
several media release so that everyone gets to know that the organization is a better corporate for
the citizens.
This media release shows that the company is an energy efficient association. Australia
Department of Science and industry have posted an energy consumption table of the company in
which they show the energy consumption of the company.
Consumption of fuel from non-renewable
sources
1.0 Gigajoule
Consumption of fuel from renewable sources 0.5 Gigajoules
Consumption from electricity 2.0 Gigajoules
This table shows the consumption of fuels from several renewable and non- renewable sources.
Apart from this company has also planned to raise the consumption of their fuel from renewable
sources by 50%. In order to raise the fuels by 50%, the company has implemented a new
program in which they will consume fuels mainly from their renewable sources (Saboori, et. al.,
2014). Timberwell has implemented such plans in the company in order to improve the image of
their firm in the market especially after the involvement of the organization in the corruption and
other illegal activities. This program will improve the image of the company in the market and
assess the company in order to enhance their growth.
Significant impacts of activities, products, and services on biodiversity
The activities of the company have a significant impact on biodiversity. As the company is
famous for its construction sites in which they build lots of apartments and buildings in the
different sites of the state. This will impact biodiversity in a huge manner. As the company deals
in the construction projects which cause various air pollution and noise pollution. These

activities can harm biodiversity and it is also dangerous for the animals living nearby (Schaefer,
et. al., 2015). By implementing the new program like consumption of fuels will also impact the
biodiversity as the process of extraction of fuels can be done with the help of various means such
as coal mining, installation of various pipelines and construction of roads. These process can
affect the ecosystem and cause damage to the biodiversity.
Consumption of fuels lead to various noise pollution, air pollution of the nearby area, water
pollution and also affects the forests. Various activities and consumption fuels can have a big
impact on biodiversity.
Non-compliance with environmental laws and regulations
Dennis who is a former employee of the company has made the complaint against the
Timberwell in which he stated that the company has not followed the environmental laws and
regulation. He filed this complaint to the Department of Energy and Environment.
After the investigation, the Department of Energy and Environment found out that Timberwell
has not followed the environmental laws and regulations. As a result, the Company was fined by
$200,000 for not following the environmental laws (Telle, 2013). Company has cleared the
approx. 0.45 hectares of endangered ecological grasslands in order to implement the vegetation
implement plan on that land.
Department of Energy and Environment found out that clear area was containing flora and fauna
attributes. This increased the problems of the company more and the department ordered the
company to extend all its audit programs and order the company to implement a new
rehabilitation plan. This plan will cost the company approx. $440,000.
It can be seen that Timberwell made a big mistake by not following the environmental laws and
regulations which has cost them a big amount.

Social sustainability
New employee hires and employee turnover
Company is facing big issues related to the retention of the employees. As after the involvement
of the company in various illegal activities. Many employees have left the company in order to
search for other jobs or join the rivalry companies. This has affected the productivity of the
company in a huge manner and company is implementing new policies and offers in order to hire
new employees and to increase the turnover of the employees (Davis, et. al., 2013). There is
immense competition for the worker in the local market and the company have to hire more 12
employees in the next period in order to survive in the market
In order to hire new employees, the company has increased the pay rates of the workers so that
the company can hire new employees for a short period of time. Company has adopted the other
strategies as well as the implementation of the monthly day off to the existing employees in order
to retain them. These strategies will assess the company in order to hire new employees as the
company is paying a quite higher amount to the new employees and also giving a day off in the
month. This will attract new employees and also enhance the retention rate of the workers in the
company (Ghosh, et. al., 2013).
Incidents of discrimination and corrective actions are taken
There were few incidents of discrimination which affects the growth of the company in a huge
manner. Dennis McCabe was the employee of the Timberwell and one of the oldest employee of
the organization. He resigned from the organization because he was facing continuous
harassment in the company. AS he was the oldest employee of the company with the age of 50
and all the other employees were in the age of between 30-40 years (Chen, et. al., 2015). Every
other employee has made several jokes on his age which frustrate the Dennis. As a result, Dennis
left the organization and filed a complaint against the organization to the commission of Fair
work in order to get the claim.
Complain of Dennis was upheld by the commission of Fair work and they ordered the
organization to pay the amount of $4,400 as a compensation to the Dennis. Commission of Fir
work also orders the organization to implement several anti-discrimination policies in their
company and train all the employees about the same (Hahn and Lülfs, 2014). Company has

followed the order and implemented all the anti-discrimination policies in order to avoid such
scenarios in the future. They have started to train all the employees of the company about the
policy of anti-discrimination so that no employee will ever do this mistake again.
Operations with local community engagement, impact assessments, and development
programs
In order to improve the image of the company in the market, the organization has decided to
engage its firm with the various local communities in order to perform several assessments and
to establish various social programs (Dare, et. al., 204). Company has established these plans so
that the image of the frim gets improve in the eyes of people and the organization will be able to
enhance their productivity. Company has implemented various programs such as assessments
related to environmental impacts, meeting with the local residents in order to overcome their
problems if they are facing any, and creating much social housing so that the local community
will favor the company.
Company has implemented all these programs in order to establish a good image of the company
in the market which will assess the company in expanding their business more in the state and
also generate more profits (Hall, et. al., 2013).

Conclusion
This report concludes the various problems faced by the company Timberwell. The company
was involved in the various illegal activities which have cost the profits of the company and also
created a bad image in the market. This report concluded the various programs implemented by
the company in order to improve their image in the market. From the above report it can be
concluded that, in order to enhance the growth of any organization, it is necessary for the
company to follow all the laws and regulation possessed by the government.
