Introduction
Academics play a significant role in the lives of a students which describes their quotient
of knowledge. However, students often have to face the pressure of insurmountable syllabus,
meeting paper deadlines, participate in other co-curricular activities and other unavoidable events
which make it difficult for them to balance (Dollinger, Matyja and Huber 2008). The time they
thus get for completing their task is very less for which they often face stresses during the last
time submission (Shafii et al. 2018). They also remain accountable for their actions which may
also pay heavy charges on them. Various researches have been conducted on this line which
points towards the poor time management skills of the students. It often results to last minute
ramming to submit on deadline and poor academic performance. In this analysis, a
comprehensive analysis will be conducted which would reflect the behavior of the students
which affects their academics. More specifically, the research will be conducted on the line of
time management which is essential for the division of time and allocating them to each subjects
thereby enabling the students to fulfil their academic goals (Lee and Recker 2017). The various
scope, research questions associated with the studies, literature review, methodology, findings
and its evaluation will be conducted thereby providing a detailed analysis into the subject matter.
Scope
This report covers the primary determinants of success in the levels of schools, colleges
and universities in the context of academics. It points out the importance of time management
which is integrated in the learning curriculum conscientiously by the students. It is an endeavor
that should be taken by the students which would ensure their proper management of time
thereby providing them time to accomplish their task within a specific time frame (Chevalier et

Understanding the Concept of time management
Time management is an integral aspect of a student’s life which pushes a students toward
achieving academic excellence. It is the manner how effectively they are being able to distribute
and utilizing their time in order to achieve a balance in all spheres (Dollinger, Matyja and Huber
2008). In terms of academics, it is vital for them to put their significant effort for covering up
their entire syllabus, working on assignments or class projects in order to achieve excellence
(Lee and Recker 2017). Moreover, it is the concept of time management that makes a person
more organized, disciplined and efficient in their day to day lives. It is the concept of effective
management of time which is pivotal for every human beings, be you are a student or a
professional.
Furthermore, multitasking, which is the signature of humankinds needs to be more organized
and structured that is possible only with the help of proper time management. Students, too, in
their lifetime find many situations where they have to manage many tasks simultaneously
(Thibodeaux 2017). However, it is important for them to allocate particular time for every tasks
in hand, and thereby manage their time efficaciously. To be more precise, time management
helps in attaining the following goals –
Prioritize – Proper time management will help one sort their priorities. The most
important and lengthy tasks should be given more focus, which will also help in proper
organization (Dollinger, Matyja and Huber 2008).
Decision making abilities – As one learns to focus on the priorities and allocate sufficient
time for it, it will gradually clear their decision making abilities which is often shrouded
by incompetence and lack of focus (Dollinger, Matyja and Huber 2008). Moreover, it will
reduce the last minute pressure thereby helping one to focus on their tasks evidently.

Accomplishment – Time management will effectively assist one in getting the most out
of their time, thereby allowing one to succeed. It will also leave one with a sense of
accomplishment.
Reduction of stress – In order to avoid the last minute stress, time management has a
great significance. It will enable one to do the task before the allocated time.
Factors of time management
The factors of time management essentially is the significant aspect which needs to be
considered by the students. According to (Neill, 2017), the four factors of time management are

Efficiency and effectiveness – Time management effectively reduces the undue pressure and
makes it possible to do the work with utmost perfection (Dollinger, Matyja and Huber 2008).
Therefore, it increases efficiency.
Procrastination – Goal-irrelevant behavior like delaying of tasks at hand is an important factor
that affects the completion of the task.
Goal planning and setting – Making plans, scheduling and acting accordingly is another
important factor.
Meeting deadlines – Deadlines comprise the main factor due to which one needs to get
organized and manage time.
Time management, undoubtedly, is an essential part of academics which all students need
to incorporate in their lives for quality performance (Dollinger, Matyja and Huber 2008).
However, there are some major gaps related to this context, for instance it has failed to address
the other issues that reduces academic performances.

Methodology
For carrying out this particular study, the researchers have employed various tools that
have helped them to cover the topic in an inclusive manner. The study has been conducted with
positivism as the research philosophy. Moreover, the research approach that has been chosen for
this particular research is the deductive approach. It is due to the presence of existing models and
theories related to the study (Gašević et al. 2019). For the descriptive reference and analysis, the
researcher has employed the descriptive or analytical design method and the research strategy
that has been used in this scenario is survey method and the interview procedure.
Along with that, the researchers have also used primary and secondary resources for data
collection which has provided it with the necessary information required. For the research
purpose, 46 students were surveyed about their experiences in school and work (MacCann,
Fogarty and Roberts 2012). Other researches also include secondary research where journals,
published articles and other resources have been used which provides authentication to the
research.
Synopsis of text
The entire write-up revolves around the importance of time management in the life of a
student. Academic excellence depends on various factors like the merit, patience, learning
capabilities of the student along with time management skill of a person. Its importance is pivotal
in students’ lives because it ensures how much well-organized, dedicated and effort should be
applied to achieve a desired objective (Gašević et al. 2019). Academic excellence should also be

With various academic literature, the implementation of time management has been focused on
which aims to enhance the academic lives of the students.
Findings or results
The findings from the survey conducted on the students revealed that there is an
increased scores on the time management behaviors (Dollinger, Matyja and Huber 2008). For
instance there is lesser level of ambiguity related to their chosen subject, less somatic tension,
enhanced level of performance, high job and life satisfaction, and increased proficiency in
academics (MacCann, Fogarty and Roberts 2012). The results also reflects the higher teaching
satisfaction level where the teachers reportedly found much easier to deal with their students.
Moreover, the anxiety and stress also significantly dropped and the students achieved a higher
sense of confidence. The study conducted by the researcher has shown one of the pivotal
strategies for success in education (Dollinger, Matyja and Huber 2008). Time management has
shown to have relation with conscientious achievement relationship. Other writers in this field
has also pointed out the importance of managing time conscientiously which provided the base
of the argument.
Evaluation of text
The analysis on this particular topic provides an insight into the students venture in the
fields of academics and the determinants of success. Among the other factors like attendance,
attitude, exams, aptitude, etc. time management helps one to achieve academic excellence in a
strategic manner (Dollinger, Matyja and Huber 2008). The arguments and other literatures
related to this topic also shows the importance of verbal ability and past performance to also be
significant in the academic improvements (Macan et al. 1990). The writings also provide an

interesting assessment into the factors that motivate the students to study hard and make time for
honing their skills in schools, colleges and universities.
Discussion
The dynamics of time management are complex as it is varies along with individuals. It
has been found that proper time management has reportedly reduced the work pressure, somatic
tensions, and increased performance due to the availability of time, lesser ambiguity, and others.
There are various arguments relating the other determinants that increase work efficiency like
providing effective training and guidance. However, it has not been proved that it has
significantly reduced stress and pressure (Dollinger, Matyja and Huber 2008). This is due to the
dearth of the conscientiousness among the students. The other important factors like aptitude,
attendance, etc. On the other hand, there is also a possibility of the students to not being able to
manage time due to poor organizing skills and stress. Therefore, it points out to the fact that both
the variables are interdependent. The other limitations pertaining to this topic is the reliance on
self-reported measures (MacCann, Fogarty and Roberts 2012). Larger samples are required to
study the situation. Moreover, objective measures of performance like test score, grades,
teacher’s performance ratings and stress reaction observation should be included in the future
researches.
Conclusion and Recommendations
In the essence of the analysis on time management and the strategic achievement of the
student in academics, it can be said that the student should develop the habit of organizing
themselves by effective time management. The life lived on this earth is limited by the constraint
of time, and therefore, it is expected of the students to measure out their time efficaciously. The

academics plays an important role in human lives which affect the entire living condition and the
time spent on earth. This is the main reason for the students to provide ample time to build their
focus on achieving academic excellence. A consistency in study is significant as it keeps the
students motivated and boost their confidence in achieving the goals. It also enhances the
concentration level, improves decision making skills due to lesser stress and enhances the quality
of lifestyle. Therefore, it is advisable for the students to make a planning or making a schedule
which will focus on utilizing the time more prudently. It will also make sufficient time for other
activities as well thereby ensuring none other tasks get lesser or greater attention. Considering
the above analysis, it is also suggested for the researchers to increase scope of researches by
taking larger samples and eliminating the other factors that might come in the way of effective
research practices.
