Introduction
The case study is largely based on the company named Timothy & Thomas which had
its operations all over the world. The problems that were faced by the organization based on
the development of clothing based items in their different factories. The main issues that were
faced by the organization in the operations are mainly related to excessive use of child labour
in different factories. The new vice-president of the company was thereby able to understand
the issues that were being faced by labour in different areas of in the third world. The major
concern in this case was the positive image that had been created by the company in the
industry. The report will thereby be based on the ways by which regulations of different
organizations in developed countries are prepared and its effects on third world countries 1.
Study of present condition in social sustainability based regulations
The expansion of ethical and sustainable supply chains has become highly significant
in the present business situation in the developed countries. The international supply chains
thereby need to be developed in an effective way. The variations that are taking place in the
priorities will play an important role in managing the costs and schedules in an efficient
manner 2. The outsourcing based activities that are performed by organizations in the
developed countries have also brought some major challenges in the modern business
environment of different countries. The organizations are now required to set specific

standards based on the ways by which the outsourced labour can be managed in an effective
manner 3.
The US based enterprises have been successful in fulfilling their ethical and social
responsibilities in an effective manner. The operations of many US based companies have
been shifted outside the country in order to avoid different issues that can be faced due to
regulations within the country. The organization which has been considered in the case study
also has its base in the US. The major issue that is being faced by the company is based on
usage of child labour, in spite of regulations that have been formed banning the use of
children 4. Social sustainability is mainly based on the ways by which the negative and
positive impacts of business operations can be managed. The social sustainability based
issues have been given huge importance in the modern business environment with the help of
various regulations that need to be followed by the organizations 5.
