CRISES MANAGEMENT PROJECT
The use of the term ‘crisis’ became evident in all areas of politics, society and the
economy and, by the mid-19th century, people were already complaining about its overuse
(Glaesser, 2006). The occurrence of crises in our day to day life is uncertain and thus
cannot be predicted and planned for in advance. Most corporate companies gain a negative
publicity due to poor handling of crises that occur as a result of their products or services.
To deal with these uncertainties of crises occurrence, we need to understand clear steps and
measures to take in order to deal with them just in case they occur. According to Simon A.
Booth(2015) it is false to conclude that there is a specific procedures that a business can be
followed to solve its all underlying problems
This project describes crises management and mitigation steps and procedures that
should be followed in order to solve crises in a more appropriate manner upon occurrence.
Impact business problem to the employer

CRISES MANAGEMENT PROJECT 6
Poor crises management can lead to a company being perceived as a villain.
Everyone will blame the company for poor handling of the crises thus leading to negative
publicity as in the case of Russian government, Ford and Firestone, and British airways.
Handling crises inappropriately can cause a company to suffer financial crises in
future since it will use a lot of funds to correct the problem like how Intel and Pentium
suffered in replacement of the chips.
Lenders and investors will shy away for instance IBM announced withdrawal from
using Intel Pentium chips due to the errors in them. This will place the company in a
difficult state of raising its finance to finance day to day operations.
Dealing with crises in an appropriate way can make a company win customers
confidence hence positively impacting its operations. Johnston and Johnston way of
handling with product tempering made its customers gain trust in them.
Benefits of proposed project to the employer

CRISES MANAGEMENT PROJECT 7
One way in which a business will benefit from crises management project will be
winning customer loyalty and trust. This will ensure customer continue to use the
company’s products even though they were once associated with damage.
Another way is that investors and lenders will not run away from financing the
operations of the company hence placing it in a good financial position to recover money
used in handling the crises.
People will not view the company as an enemy of the society. By accepting that it’s
liable for the damage and thus a solution has to be determined, its customers will stand
with them so as to arrive at this solution like how the Johnson and Johnson customers
promised to stand with it.
Deliverables to be met
Come up with a way that an organization can use to predict occurrence of a crisis in
the future.
Suggest proper ways of assessing a crisis upon its occurrence and the damage levels
so as to know how to handle it.
How to appropriately come up with a solution that will satisfy the affected parties
and still do not negatively impact the business when a crisis occur.
Proper way of documenting lessons learned from the crisis to avoid such incidence
from occurring in future of be used as a reference upon occurrence of another crisis.
