INTRODUCTION
It is necessary to find out specific industry or sector to build a strong professional career in
it. In recent time, many trends have emerged in travel and tourism sector. So, it requires high and
advance skills and knowledge to built a career in it. Also, for a graduate, technical skills are
needed for marketing executive (Aoki, Hosino and Imafuku, 2016). Furthermore, with use of
technology jobs are becoming challenging in this sector.
The report will describe about tourism sector and skills that I must possess. Moreover, I will
brief about trends impacting on jobs that is digital marketing. Besides, I will summarise findings
and evaluate it.
ANALYSIS AND APPLICATION
Travel and tourism sector is emerging to a great extent. It has led to offering various jobs
and opportunities to built a career in it. However, new jobs are also emerging for graduates. this
is because it requires new talent to offer various types of services to people. there is ned

It has been analysed that there are various trends and changes which has occurred in
tourism sector. Due to these trends the sector is impacted to a great extent. the sector is
implementing those trends rapidly which has resulted in higher growth and development.
However, customers are also accepting those trends easily (Casanova Dias, Giacco and Hanon,
2016). However, the trends are also impacting on jobs of those candidates who are building their
career in this industry. alongside, skills and knowledge has also been impacted. the major impact
is of us of technology in it. This has made it easy for companies to use various ICT tools to
perform operations. Furthermore, in digital marketing Google analytics is been used to analyse
change in customer trends and needs. so, companies need highly efficient and qualified people
who are suitable for new job role. apart from it, to work in digital marketing student is required
to gain knowledge about social media, internet, etc. and how it is used in it. thus, they will need
technical skills and knowledge.
Another trend that will impact is globalisation. in this tourism firms are expanding into
new countries for which they require local people. thus, for working in those nation it is require
to possess language and communication skills. so he or she must also have knowledge about
culture, ethics, etc. of people in order to communicate. In addition, team work skill will be

required to work with diversified team member. besides, interpersonal skill will be needed as
well to listen, interact, with each other and attain goals (Donald, Baruch and Ashleigh, 2017).
Skills and knowledge required
With emerging trends in travel and tourism sector it is required to possess some new
skills and knowledge so that professional goals are attained and career is built. besides that,
person must have enough knowledge about those trends and why it is necessary to learn about it.
Moreover, by gathering secondary data and analysing, it can be summarised that certain skills
and knowledge is required which is stated as :
Personal skill
Critical thinking - This is a skill that is required in which effective decision are taken by critical
thinking. they think in critical way by considering various criteria. So, complex situations are
solved quickly and in different way. Here, facts and figures are analysed before taking any
decision.
Decision making - The graduates must possess some hard skills as well. By taking effective and
proper decision goals are attained in specified deadline. In addition, they take decision by
analysing data and info in depth (Faris and Shuren, 2017). it gives insight to them on what
decision is appropriate and how it will be beneficial for company growth.
Technical management skills- it is a skill that should be possessed by students in which
management is done with help of technology. this result in adopting use of machines and
working with them.
Technical skills- this is major skill that is required. here, graduate should know how to solve
technical issues and use different software and applications. this will be easy to learn and gain
knowledge about software and using it in job role.
Creativity skills – he or she must possess creativity skills so that goals can be attained in
efficient way. also, strategies are developed by thinking outside box. along with it, new software
can be used in different way and bringing changes in way of working.
Areas of knowledge
Technological knowledge- It is an area of knowledge needed by candidate. he or she must have
proper and relevant knowledge about new software and applications that are used in tourism
sector. Alongside, knowledge regarding new updates and use of AI in this industry is required.
besides it is required to have practical knowledge as well (İnandi, Gün and Giliç, 2017).

Use of ICT in tourism- the candidate must possess knowledge about use of ICT tools ion
tourism and how it is leading to change in it. Moreover, what type of tools and system is used
and in which area. In addition, he or she should know practically about use of ICT tools. this will
be easy to apply that knowledge in job role.
EVALUATION
Here, I analysed that in tourism sector there are many new roles and vacancies appeared.
Each new role requires different types of skills and knowledge. Moreover, knowledge and skills
varies on basis of area. in travel and tourism sector there are further sub areas segregated. they
also offer new job roles and opportunity (Khaleghkhah, Nemati and Moradi, 2018). so, my
interest in this sector is to become a digital marketing analyst. so, there are many reasons due to
which this job role is suitable for me. first is because I am having interest is using technology
and various tools and applications. also, I like to visit different website and analyse data. besides
that, I possess critical decision making skills which allow me to take proper and effective
decisions. It has sharpened my ability as well. furthermore, I like to find out what marketing
trends are emerging and how it is influencing on people decision. in addition, my hobby is to
travel across the world and explore tourism industry. Besides, I am having interest in doing
coding and programming to find out relevant outcomes. it has made things easy for me to get
engage in this profession. However, I think that in future there will be high demand of digital
marketing analyst. it is because tourism companies are promoting and adverting digitally. for this
they are using various platforms like social media, e mail, website, etc. thus, it will result in
collecting and analysing data from it and finding out change in trends, patterns, needs, etc. of
customers (Faris and Shuren, 2017). so, as a marketing executive this is suitable for me as in
future I will be able to use technology. Alongside, I think that digital marketing will completely
take over traditional marketing. there will be many new technologies emerged such as AI, google
analytics, etc. which will transform marketing of products and service. thus, I conclude that in
tourism sector many new job roles will emerge. So, it will be a future proofed for profession.
CONCLUSION
It is summarised that there is travel and tourism sector is emerging to a great extent. It has
led to offering various jobs and opportunities to build a career in it. there are various trends
impacting such as globalisation, technology, etc. It requires advance skills and knowledge like
creativity, technical, etc.
