1.2 The structure of the travel and tourism sector.
Transportation
Transportation is very important and
plays crucial role for travel and tourism
industry (Carr, 2015). Without precise
transportation, it will be difficult for the
travellers to travel to another country.
Travellers utilised different mode of
transportation such as railways, taxis,
cruise liners, etc.
Accommodation
Accommodation is another important
aspect which influences tourists from
different countries. Tourists travelling
away from home requires place to stay
(Page et al., 2017). Without proper
accommodation facilities will affect the
tourist growth in the country, Hotels,
guest house, camps, motels are some
example of accommodations.
Conference and events
Large scale corporations conduct
meeting, conferences and events in
different countries in order to promote
and expand their organisation in
different countries. These provide
immense opportunities to tour and
travel sectors as they are responsible
for organising the event and meetings
efficiently
Information and coordination
Whenever tourists visit any new place,
they require information about the
place. Though with the raise in
smartphone technologies and easy
availability of internet, tourists can
acquire information by themselves.
But it is important to have tourists
information centres, kiosks, authorities
and tour guides.
Government
Government plays vital role in
development of tours and travel
sectors directly and indirectly (Veal,
2017). Governmental policies,
practices and legislations which
govern the inbound and outbound of
tourists need to be precise in order to
generate more and more tourism
within the country. Government is
responsible for commercialising tourist
destinations through various media in
order to attract more visitors.
Travel and Tourism Services
Travel and tourisms services are
provided by different governmental
and private tourists organisation
influences the tourists greatly. In order
to attract more visitors the services
provided by these organisations must
be precise and appropriate so that
growth and development of tourism
can be establish in the country.
Attractions:
Attractions are the primary motivations
for the tourists to travel. Tourists lure
for attractions to travel to a destination
(Lyons et al., 2015). Many tour
operators combine different attractions
into a packaged tour for the tourists
while some attractions are sold as
standalone tour to the tourist.
Attractions could be classified into
different categories. Some are free
while some comes at a price.
