In today's competitive scenario, travel and tourism sector plays vital role in growth and
development of nation's economy. It is one of the fastest growing sector of the world. Now a
days, a huge amount of money is spent by people in visiting several places for enjoyment and
recreation purpose (Ahmad, 2013). The process of tourism occurs at 2 levels, i.e., global &
domestic. The present assignment is based on Virgin Holidays Ltd. which is a company of UK
that offers worldwide holiday packages to customers. The report covers scope of UK and
worldwide tourist destinations as well as physical, social and cultural features of these. Apart
from this, it also defines characteristics of destinations that influence their appeal to tourist and
issues that affects popularity of destinations.

develop in coming time as these are connected with entertainment. Educational & Medical
tourism is additionally assuming critical part in tourism development. From the stated data, it can
be expected in next coming years, number of guests will increase by 3 million. This will
maximize the amount they spend in recreational activities. At present, around three million
people are working in this area and there are chances for increasing it is up to 4 million in next

visitors will be increase in upcoming years.

facilities and their main motive for travelling can be accomplished successfully. Different
physical, social and cultural highlights of nation help in attracting expansive number of guests
and contributes in development of economy (Fourie and Santana-Gallego, 2011). These are: Cultural: In United Kingdom, different cultural programmes happen with the help of
accessible resources such as special food, monuments etc. The nation accomplishes
numerous man-made and natural cultural perspectives which automatically draws the
attention of large number of tourists. This destination attracts large number of visitors
towards the place. For instance: British museum of UK is dedicated to art, culture and
human history which assists in attracting large number of tourist. On the other hand, La
Fête de la Bastille is one of the main event of France that attracts more visitors to visit the
country. Social: This factor is contributing significantly towards the growth and development of
travel and tourism sector. Additionally, tourist destination also contributes in the public

government is effectively contributing towards the growth and development of respective

Nepal and India is ineffective as compared to
