The purpose behind pursuing Tourism Management
Question 1
It is true that I am pursuing a course on a similar level; however, we cannot undermine the fact
that a course in tourism is actually an up-gradation in my existing skill sets. It has been observed
that many engineers are doing the course of MBA because they want to add a commercial
understanding of the business in their profile. In my case, I have developed a commercial
understanding of the business and a course in tourism will help me in understanding the “ropes
of the trade” in a stream where I want to develop a mainstream career.
An exposure to the fundamentals of tourism, from the purview of history, leisure, business and
lifestyle choices is required, this course will give me a cutting edge in the job market, also I have
penchant for the developing new tourist attractions by developing the existing distinctive culture
of any given area, this course will give me an idea about the basics of the development of a new
destination, I want to become an entrepreneur in the field of tourism, my fundamentals to set up
a business are clear because of my course in the MBA, the course in tourism will help me in
developing a core competence which can be translated into a serious business proposition (A
hospitality degree can open the door to careers around the globe, 2019).
Question 2
The environment in UCB is relatively informal, my previous stint during the MBA classes taught
me to abide by a system and follow the norms set by the authorities. I am optimistic that UCB
will promote me in expressing myself better in the terms of a freewill thinker, contributing to a

culture that promotes individuality while acting as an integral part of a culturally well-rooted
educational establishment.
Question 3
A combination of the Systematic thought process flourished by the course of MBA and the
understanding of the leisure lifestyle developed by the course of tourism will help me in creating
a unique job profile to cater to the complex needs of the tourism industry.
A course in the tourism industry can be considered as a course for specialization in a particular
area. In the coming future where the rest of the industries are under consistent threat of robotic
mechanization, the Tourism industry is among the very few industries where humans are
required. The recent trends of the tourism industry developed a different kind of travel pattern for
many business travelers, the onset of free skies and globalization is forcing them to travel abroad
and understand different cultures (Goel, 2019).
My expertise in the field of MBA will help me in understanding the mindset and the needs of
these business tourists and my degree in the field of tourism will give me a cutting edge where I
will be able to serve them with a mechanical dexterity and systematic thought process provided
by my previous course while adding special touch given by the course of tourism.
