Introduction
Sustainable Tourism is basically defined as the tourism which is
fully responsible for addressing the wants and needs of visitors, the
host and environment communities, the industry and social and
environmental impacts. In context to the destination, Prague is the
largest city and capital in the Czech Republic. It is the 13th largest
city in the European Union. The destination is popularly known for
its Gothic Churches, colourful baroque buildings and Old Town
Square.

 Critical analysis of the sustainable and responsible policies and
practices at Prague.
 Identifying the various challenges and issues of implanting
sustainable policies.
 Evaluating efficiency of sustainable practice.

Sustainable and Responsible Practices at the
Destination
 Waste Management: In Prague city, the waste is collected using
curb side collection, permanent drop off centres and container
posts and managing waste in efficient way. The process of waste
management totally deals with the different types of wastes
which comprises of biomedical, household, industrial,
municipal, radioactive and various other types of wastes.

 Reduction in Carbon Footprint: In context to Prague, the government
has carried out various ways to limit the carbon footprint with the help
of consuming seasonal and local products. Carbon Footprint is the
total amount of greenhouse gases which includes methane and carbon
dioxide. In order to maintain sustainability, it is very important to
reduce the amount of Carbon Footprint.

 Food Waste Collection System: It is basically defined as the systematic approach in order to reduce the
amount of food wastage. In context to Prague City, the residents have the opportunity to recycle
hazardous waste, cardboard, wooden waste, green maintenance waste etc. In reference to organisation
such as Green Garden Hotel situated in Prague, carries out various ways for the purpose to reduce food
wastage through preparation of the menu and grocery list together, constantly keeping a check on pantry
temperature, buying only the necessary items and practising stock rotation.

basically specifies the aims in the field of climate protection up
to 2030 which an outlook up to 2050. This policy basically

for the application of sustainable development practices at
the regional and local levels. It comprises of all the

In Prague city, the programme is carried out for the purpose

discussion among authorities and much more.

Issues and challenges of implanting
sustainable policies and strategies
 In relation to the destination, there are various barriers and hurdles which are faced
during the implantation of sustainable strategies and policies which involves the
following:
 Climate Change: One of the major barrier in implanting sustainable strategies and
policies is climate change. The climate change comprises of long term effects such
as ocean acidification, ice melt, sea level rise and ocean warming.
