LO 2

world
It has been analysed that tourism is a sector that grows continuously. For certain
emerging economies it has boosted its GDP and economic growth. However, there are various
reasons due to which tourism is generating revenue in areas of world. Thus they are defined as
below :
GDP growth- It is a major reason of growth in tourism as having a high GDP automatically led
to attracting tourist from different parts of world. Besides, tourism help in increasing GDP of
nation as well. The nation is able to establish strong relation with foreign traders and it led to rise
in import and export. Thus, rise in GDP allow country to develop more plans for tourism
development.
Boost international investment- In tourism sector there is exchange of currency of one nation
from another. Hence, it led to enhancing growth of country as well. In addition, there is increase
in investment as other companies also get engage in tourism development.
Infrastructure development This is another reason of tourism growth as infrastructure
development takes place (Goffi, Cucculelli and Masiero 2019). It is found that tourism results
in increasing road, water, etc. connectivity. Therefore, for that airports, bridge, hotels, etc. are
constructed.
Promote inclusive growth- It is also reason for tourism growth as when tourist visit nation then
this led to economic growth. With urban there is growth of rural areas as well. The main thing it
helps in development of country.
The 4 A’s of destination are the Attraction, Accessibility, Accommodation, and Amenities.
These are the main reasons for the tourism and travel into a destination. If a country’s destination

included all things by which it becomes easy for tourist to visit and it provide various services as
well.
Alongside, there are various other reasons as well due to which global tourism growth is
increasing and revenue is generated. For example- culture, historical, etc. that attract tourist to
visit nation. As India is rich in historical monuments and culture so this is reason for growth of
tourism within country.
P4 Compare and contrast the differences between emerging global tourism destinations in stages
of destination life cycle
A destination life cycle explain development of tourist place and its stages over a
particular time period (Gössling, Scott and Hall 2018). Generally, there are 5 stages in it that is
development, involvement, stagnation, exploration and consolidation. There are various tourist
destinations which are emerging. So, there difference is analysed as below :
Stages India Sri Lanka
Exploration Tourist are visiting India to
know about culture, historical
monuments, etc. but its impact
on tourism is less
Abc is also emerging
destination as tourist are
visiting due to its cultural
heritage, greenery, beaches,
etc.
Involvement Here, most of tourist are local.
But with change in season
there is increase in number of
tourist. Also, there is change
in social life as well (Islam,
Ruhanen and Ritchie 2018).
The local tourism is being
promoted a rural people are
being given job opportunities
Development In India many developments
are occurring in tourism
sector. The infrastructure is
build up to promote such as
Statue of Unity, etc. thus,
there is high rise in tourism.
In recent time there is high
rise in number of tourist in Sri
Lanka. The government is also
taking certain steps for
tourism development. There is
high promotion which is done

to attract tourists of different
countries (Jamal and Budke
2020).
Consolidation Due to bad weather conditions
there is decline in tourist. In
India local people are highly
involved in providing varied
services and facility to
tourism.
The Sri Lankan environment
is affected. Local community
lifestyle is hampered so this
has resulted in decline in
tourism.
Stagnation It is last stage as here tourist
destination get disturbed. The
economic disturbance of India
has declined due to GST, high
inflation rate, etc.
There are many tour operators
which has fixed packages rate.
Thus, it is resulting in
decrease in tourism.
Here, in both countries tourism is rapidly rising due to culture and heritage. Hence the
development stage between both nations is similar as local communities has also been involved
in promotion of tourism (Lee and Xue 2020). Also, infrastructure is developed in order to attract
tourist. The countries are making efforts in creating demand of tourism and fulfilling it. They are
focusing on various new cities and towns and majorly in rural areas. It has been useful in
providing job opportunities to rural people to promote tourism. So there is increase in growth of
nation. There are various types of services that is provided to tourists. Hence, there is rise in
GDP of country and also in tourism sector. The factors driving growth are emerging economy,
high quality services, moderate packages, etc. The strategies employed are building
infrastructure and boosting local community growth by adopting practices of sustainable growth.
