 World heritage sites have special importance for each and everyone because it represents
unique examples of natural heritage.
 The government have taken major steps to protect these sites by nominating suitable sites
to the committee of world heritage so that proper protection can be given.
 World heritage nomination process is evaluated by the international council on monuments
and sites.
 The committee meets once a year to decide about the nomination process in which they
discuss whether or not to include property on the top list.
 The presentation will be based on tower of London which is famous as a world heritage
site situated in London.

What do you understand by ‘World Heritage
Site’?
 World Heritage Sites are natural and cultural sites which
are designated by UNESCO for having outstanding
universal value in order to represent creativity, beauty
and uniqueness of the property.
 They can be properties like buildings, deserts,
monuments, lakes and islands.
 As per the survey taken in the year 2021 month July,
there are total 1154 world heritage sites in the top list
from which 218 is natural sites, 897 cultural sites and 39
is mixture of these properties.
 They all are situated in total number of countries that is
167.

why?
 Chosen world heritage site is the tower of London, officially her majesty's royal palace,
this site has played a vital role in the UK History.
 The major reason of choosing this property is it is the safest castle in the world.
 This palace was besieged many times, and protecting and controlling it has been essential
for management team in the UK country.
 This site is famous as mighty fortress and royal palace.
 Many tourists visit this famous palace because the tower still has the capacity to fascinate
and attract tourist.
 The most interesting thing about this palace is it took almost 20 years to build with the
help of talented labour and artist which was provided by Englishmen.

Why was this place selected as a World Heritage
Site?
 Based on the nomination process, the tower has been selected as a world heritage site.
 In the year 1988, the tower become a world heritage site and people were start visiting this
palace.
 History - In the 1070s, The famous conqueror William built a mighty stone tower in the
UK at the centre of London fortress.
 Now 1000 year later, the tower has the capacity to attracts more than 2 million tourists.
 The history of the tower of London has attracted more tourist every year.
 During the time of war and rebellion, the tower were also used by monarchs as a luxurious
palace.
 Queen and kings locked away their important jewels, valuables and other items at the
tower.

 The tower of London has also been a symbol of fear,
win and awe which has created more curiosity among
people to visit their and make their holiday
memorable.
 During the time of war, queen and kings imprisoned
their enemies within its walls, this has created more
ghost stories and terrible tales related to torture in the
mind of people.
 In addition to this, the stories and articles about
prisoners still haunt the tower of London.
 Strength of tower has also attracted many visitors.

Conclusion
 To conclude, the tower of London is the most famous heritage site holding many famous
and infamous prisoners.
 In the 17th century, the tower was also used as a royal residence which has attracted many
people to know about the lifestyle over there.
 In addition, the tower is home to yeomen wardens, a garrison of soldiers and the resident
governor along with their family members and a doctor to provide any kind of medical
care.
