AI Summary
This project plan outlines Toyota's strategic response to Brexit, focusing on upgrading supply chain management and implementing a new ERP solution. The plan begins with an overview of Toyota and the project's scope, followed by a comprehensive business environmental analysis, including SWOT and risk assessments, and stakeholder analysis. Detailed project planning encompasses a project plan, work breakdown structure, network diagram, and cost-benefit analysis. The document also addresses non-financial benefits, along with controlling, monitoring, and project closure strategies. The analysis considers the impact of Brexit on Toyota's operations, the need for supply chain adjustments, and the implementation of new ERP software to streamline business processes. The project plan incorporates all aspects of the project, from the initial planning phase to the final closure, ensuring a structured and efficient approach to achieving the project goals. The project aims to enhance operational efficiency, manage risks, and ensure compliance with the new trade conditions. The project is expected to take around six months and will cost around $70,000.

2PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Overview of Toyota
Toyota Motor Corporation is one of the popular multinational automotive companies
based in Japan. Toyota is the market leader in selling hybrid electric vehicles. It is the world’s
largest automobile manufacturer. They have their market all around the world and not limited
to Japan only. They sell cars in the UK as well. The Toyota cars are exported from the UK
and are sold in the EU market. Toyota builds their engine in the UK and assembles the car
parts in plants on various parts of EU. However, Brexit affects Toyota as well. Britain’s car
industry faces £4.5bn bill if they leave UE without conducting any trade deals.
Scope statement
Brexit affects almost all the car industries of the UK and Toyota is one of them. After
the Brexit, they will have to manufacture car engines and will have to assemble all the car
parts in the UK. Therefore, they will have to make changes in the business operations. Toyota
thus decides to update the supply chain management. They also plan to adopt a new ERP
solution. The project will take around 6 months to get completed. I have appointed by Toyota
to prepare a project plan following Toyota will carry out the business activities. The project
will cost around $ 70,000.
Business environmental analysis
• SWOT Analysis
Strength
i. The small car companies will not get help from the EU. It will help Toyota to stay ahead in
the local market.
Document Page
3PROJECT MANAGEMENT
ii. Toyota has to follow the rules, regulations and restrictions of EU; they will not have
comparatively fewer restrictions (Seethamraju 2015).
iii. Toyota can hire more employees from the UK, and the UK will be benefitted.
Weaknesses
i. Toyota will have to follow heavy trade policies and will have to spend heavy on trading.
The UK market will shrink, and it will affect Toyota heavily.
ii. UK exit will negatively influence the tax revenues as well. Toyota will shrink until and
unless other markets are opened (Shen, Chen and Wang 2016).
iii. Many EU people will lose jobs. Toyota will lose skilled employees.
Opportunities
i. Britons support Brexit, and everyone believes that Britons will help the UK. Thus the UK
will get economic aid to re-establish itself as one of the leaders of the world (Tarhini, Ammar
and Tarhini 2015). This will give Toyota to reshape their business and establish themselves in
the UK market.
ii. The new ERP implementation will help Toyota to conduct the business efficiently and
ethically.
iii. The supply chain management system will help them to conduct the business according to
the Brexit conditions.
Threats
i. The UK banks suffered loss by $130bn for the Brexit. The British pound value gets
decreased to $1.35 (Ha and Ahn 2014). Toyota will also suffer economically and financially.

4PROJECT MANAGEMENT
• Risk Analysis
i. Toyota decides to upgrade the supply chain management for the Brexit. Toyota will bring
change in business process and decision making (Tian and Xu 2015). The new business
model can give them benefits or can prove to be disastrous.
ii. Brexit suffers economically and financially for the Brexit. Toyota can similarly suffer both
economically and financially. The risk is high. They will lose the competitive advantage in
the world. They will face heavy monetary loss.
iii. Toyota also plans to implement a new ERP solution. The Toyota employees need time to
adopt this new software (Antero 2015). The new ERP software is not fully tested; the
software can give faulty results.

17PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Non-financial benefits of the Project
The new ERP implementation will assist the employees of the organisation to carry
out the business process more efficiently and more accurately. The managers and the
directors of Toyota will be able to monitor and manage the business operations and the
clients’ activities well. They can predict the profit.

18PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Controlling Monitoring and Project Closure
The Project manager prepares the entire project plan, and he is responsible for
controlling and the monitor every activity of the project. He must monitor whether all the
activities are being carried out within the stipulated time and stipulated budget. The
stakeholders are bound to follow the project plan and need to finish the activities within the
timeline and the budget. If they fail to deliver within the timeline, the project cost will
increase, and in that scenario, Toyota can suffer heavy loss (Issar and Navon 2016). After the
completion, the project will be handed over to the Toyota Director. If he is satisfied, he will
clear all the payments and project manager will release all the resources. If he is not satisfied,
the project manager will have to change strategies and will have to rework. The project
manager needs to keep records and needs to prepare documentation for the business process.
Conclusion and Recommendation
The UK will have to face tough challenges in post Brexit period. There is a possibility
they can suffer both economically and financially. This can negatively influence Toyota.
Toyota can face suffering from the economic crisis as well. Toyota thus decides to change the
business model. They plan to upgrade the supply change management process and want to
implement the ERP software on their premises. All these can help them to adapt to the
adverse condition of Brexit. They can get a competitive advantage and earn a profit.
They need to hire a trainer. The trainer will train the employees about the ERP
software. The employees can be able to carry out the business operations more efficiently.
The Director, the automobile engineer and the mechanical engineer, will have to take the
responsibility and will have to ensure that the business operations will be carried out
efficiently.
