Training and development has become one of the important factors of every
organisation for the better and enhanced operations of an organisation so that the productivity
and the operations of the organisation is of high quality and contributes to the organizational
benefits. This paper is going to reflect on the organisation, Herzing University and the issues
they have been currently facing and recommend strategies to effectively launch a training
program.
Discussion
Brief overview of the company
Herzing University is private university in the United States of America. The
university was founded in the year, 1965 by Suzanne Herzing and Henry Herzing and is
currently headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (Herzing University., 2020). It is
considered to be the first post-secndary university which focuses on preparing their students
for careers in the computer industry. The university has its presence in various locations
across the United States. The university offers their students with degrees in various
professions which include healthcare, technology, business and nursing.
Mission and vision statement of Herzing University
According to the website of the university, they are committed to provide successful
employment to their students (Herzing University., 2020). They have career development
coaches who work with the students in the class from the very first day and also in their
careers. They aim on providing full support and high quality education to the students to learn
and develop in terms of their education, professional as well as personal lives.

Strategic objectives of Herzing University
The strategic objective of the university is to help students achieve their goals in terms
of career and also to provide the students with support in defining their career options,
objectives, resume, research employers and also in developing online profiles, interview
coaching and also to connect with employers. The other objective of the university is to help
and support the students to make a difference in their profession as well as in their career.
Issues faced by Herzing University
Herzing University has been facing issues in their nursing and healthcare department.
According to student reviews that have been posted online about Herzing University,
majority of the students belonging from the nursing and the healthcare department have been
complaining and posting poor reviews about their poor program, the lack of support and
assistance from the professors or the teachers, unfairness and their greed of taking money
without providing the students with proper education which has contributed to the university
gaining a poor reputation in the country (Gradreports.com., 2020). Most of the students
especially belonging from the nursing department stated that they did not learn anything in
comparison to the money they had to pay as their fees and their teachers refused to help and
support them when they needed help. These complaints and poor reviews can be detrimental
for the operations of the university as majority of the students and parents check reviews
before opting for a university and poor reviews can make students consider other universities
over Herzing University. Thus, it is important for the management and the human resource
managers to look into the matter and come up with suitable solutions to mitigate these issues.
Role of HR and training department in launching a training program
The poor reviews and dissatisfied students are a major issue which indicates the poor

are important mode of feedback and it is important for organisations to consider reviews and
feedback to make a positive change in the operations and management of an organisation.
The role of the human resource management is to monitor employees of an organisation and
through the reviews the HR manager will have an idea of the issue and thus needs to forward
the information to the higher authorities and request for a training program for the teachers or
the professors. After the permission is granted, the HR manager along with the training
department will launch an effective program for the professors and give them training on how
to prepare a concrete nursing and healthcare program and the importance of providing
support to the students for the development of the students as well as the development of the
professors so that they effectively teach and provide high quality teaching to the students.

Herzing University aims on providing their students with proper career and help them
in their development however, the nursing and the healthcare department of the university has
been failing to do so which is evident from the dissatisfied students and the poor ratings and
reviews of the university online. Thus, it is important for the teachers to go through a proper
training program which will help them provide high quality teaching to their students and
also help them in being supportive and contribute to the development of the students which
will help in making students happy and feel proud to be a part of Herzing University.
