Discuss stages of research process
Identifying the problem: It is the first step under which researcher identifies the problem.
It is stated that research is often undertaken for identifying solution of a problem. Here,
researcher needs to careful while selecting research problem as the problems are those which can
be verified through investigation. In the present scenario, research problem is related to HR
practice which is training & development.
Reviewing of literature: Here, literature review is also a crucial part of research process.
Literature review enables researcher to gather appropriate information on the topic. It also
provides deep understanding on the topic and also enhanced knowledge of researcher for
conducting overall research in an efficient manner (Zimbardo, 2017). It is stated that reviewing
previous information is vital for initiating research in an appropriate way. By this way,
investigator can also save their time and efforts. Also, they need to explore something different
which have not been investigated by other research so far.
Setting research objectives, questions and hypothesis: Research objectives guide
researcher throughout the research process. It provides a complete framework in terms of scope
of study. In research, researcher tries to fulfill all the set objectives in order to make the research
successful. Here, hypothesis is regarded as an unproven statement which result will be based
over research. This statement will tested by results of research. There are two types of hypothesis
such as Null and alternative.
Choosing the study design: Research design is the blueprint for attaining the objectives
of research. It comprises necessary procedure for collection as well as interpretation of data in an
efficient manner. Some basic research designs which an investigator can used for conducting
research in an efficient manner are survey, experiment, secondary data study & observational
study (Turulja and Bajgoric, 2018). Selection of an appropriate design for research depend on a
lot of factors such as type of problem, objectives of study, resources available and more. So,
research needs to select most suitable design for research after due consideration.

Deciding sample design: Sampling is a vital step of research which is related to
collection of some samples which represent the whole population of research effectively. Main

purpose of sapling is to cut down the area of research by selecting some true sample. These
samples need to be selected effectively as true representative of universe. For this purpose, there
are two methods of sampling are used such as probability sampling and non probability
sampling. Generally, probability sampling is used by researcher as it provides equal opportunity
to all units.
Data collection: In this, researcher collects required information from appropriate
sources. There are different sources of data collection like primary & secondary. In primary
method, data is gathered by researcher while in secondary method information is drawn from
already available data.
Processing and analyzing data: Under this step, data is processed in an appropriate way
so that users can interpreted it correctly. It is stated that editing helps to minimize errors and also
improve overall quality. There are different techniques can be used for data process and
analyzing. It can be done through graphs, charts, tables and other tools. Here, it is imperative to
select an appropriate technique as per requirement (Watkins and Marsick, 2016).
Writing the report: It is the last but most crucial stage of research under which researcher
combines all the information gathered during the whole process for preparing a complete
research report. It is divided in different parts such as abstract or executive summary,
introduction, literature review, data analysis, findings and more.
Discuss different approaches of primary research along with necessary advantages and
disadvantages
In primary methods, information is collected by researcher without intervention of any
outside party. Here, data is raw and comprises higher authenticity and reliability. There are a lot
of approaches used in primary research some of them are given as under:
Survey: It is related of collecting information regarding behavior, opinion, thoughts of
respondents. Here, a questionnaire is prepared for data collection by which researcher can easily
gather necessary information from large number of audience (Alzola, 2018).

Survey: It is related of collecting information regarding behavior, opinion, thoughts of
respondents. Here, a questionnaire is prepared for data collection by which researcher can easily
gather necessary information from large number of audience (Alzola, 2018).

Advantages: With survey, it is possible to collect appropriate information from large
number of audience. With the help of questionnaire, investigator can even gather
information from distant places.
Disadvantages: Sometimes, people do not take interest in questions of researcher and
also provide false information which can lead towards misinterpretation and false results.
Interviews: It is widely used method of primary data collection where researcher personally
interacts with respondents for data collection. There is personal interaction between both the
parties which help to gather detailed information. In this, researcher can also take out some
additional information from respondent by maintain effective relationship. This information can
help in getting appropriate results out of research.
Advantages: Interview provides extreme flexibility to researcher to mold the questions as
per requirement for taking out best information. Interview generally gets better response
relatively to questionnaire and more.
Disadvantages: It is analyzed that interview is a costly approach of data collection. Apart
for this, it also required higher time to conduct an interview.
Observation: Under this method, researcher simply observes the activities, behavior of
respondents. Here, researcher observes people as well as events of their surroundings. It helps to
gather information about actual information about human behavior (Lytras, Raghavan and
Damiani, 2017).
Advantages: The main advantage of observation that it provides true and reliable
information. There is no biasness in terms of selecting samples, gathering information
and more as data is collected by observation.
Disadvantages: Major disadvantage of this approach is absence of personal interaction
between respondents and investigator. Here, results are drawn by observation which can
be wrong. Here, wrong interpretation can mislead the whole research.
Stakeholders: The identification of stakeholder for this research report are company’s
related such as Employees, Suppliers, Customer, government etc.

Findings:
On the basis of present research, it is analyzed that training & development is a crucial
approach of human resource management. Here, each and every organization arranges
appropriate training programs for enhancing knowledge and skills of their work force. In
addition, training also helps in introducing changes within company. With proper training,
companies can develop effective skills among employees so that they can coordinate with
change working practices in an efficient manner. In addition to this, training also proved
important in terms of enhancing morale of employees as trained employees can perform
efficiently in terms of an untrained employee. Beside this, training also brings opportunities of
growth & success for work force. With proper training employees can perform their assigned
task in an efficient manner. In context of TESCO, it is analyzed that they arrange proper training
sessions for work force with an aim to improve their skills & capabilities. By training, they also
develop higher enthusiasm, zeal in staff members for performing assigned task in best possible
way.
Recommendations:
It is analyzed that training & development is a vital approach of human resource under
which manager put efforts for enhancing overall knowledge & efficiency of employees. There
are some recommendations which need to adopt in order to make improvements in the field of
training & development. These recommendations are mentioned below:
There is requirement to identify areas in which employees are lacking. For this, managers
of TESCO need to maintain effective communication with work force so that they get to
know about the areas in which employees need help. Further, they need to take
appropriate actions for providing training to work force. There are two types of training
such as on job and off job training. Here, managers need to first identify the requirements
and then adopt appropriate method of training.
It is often seen that after training program company deploy work force again in work.
Here, TESCO first needs to analyze impact of training over work force by conducting
appropriate test and other analysis. With this, they will get to know impact of training
programs over employees which will help to take appropriate actions. By this, managers
can also minimize scope of mistakes, accidents at work place.
