Introduction:
In the present time, there is huge competition in the retail sector as every organisation
requires huge growth and profitability. For attain this objective, corporation requires
improving its quality of product and services and performance of business.Performance of
business can improve by training and development of employees. It is one of the essential
method to improve the working style and criteria of business performance so that company
can achieve its determined objective in an effective and efficient manner. In a simple word it
can be said that training and development is a procedure to improve current and future
employee's performance by increasing their knowledge, skills and ability. With assistance of
training and development program, retail sector's organisation can easily enhance the level of
performance and quality of work at workplace (Johnson and Christensen, 2010). The major
purpose of the research is to find out the perfect solution of a particular problem. With help of
the research, investigator can easily find out perfect solution of research issue. In the present
research study, the major objective of the investigator is to analyse the impact of training and
development on the employee's performance and business productivity with respect of Marks
and Spencer. It is one of the famous corporation which deal with customer product and
services and produce high quality of commodity. In order to meet determined objective of
research, investigator will focus on the research methodology and apply several techniques in
the study.

Context within which the research will be carried out:
Geographical Context: This is the context under which researcher needed to focus on
the geographical area while they conduct the investigation. In this aspect, scholar need
to select the population on the basis of geographical location (Khalid, 2009).
Cultural Context: Culture is another one of the significant context that required by
scholar at the time of research investigation. At the time of selection of sample within
the investigation, scholar required to focus cultural background of the respondents.
Social or institutional Context- Social context can consider by the researcher in
order to acknowledge the taste, preferences, choice, background of the respondents.
Ethical requirements relevant to the context of research:
In the research study, ethical consideration is one of the aspect that have to consider by
researcher. There are some ethics that have to follow by researcher for conducting
investigation in more effective and efficient way. One major ethics is related to relevant
information under which all information that is included in the study should be relevant to the
subject (Khalid and Irshad, 2010 ). Data is not used by the investigator for further studies and
all information should be right and accurate. Another ethical consideration is related to
secondary data under which data is not being copy and paste from any source. Furthermore,
scholar have to design the report in their own words. Another major ethic is that researcher
should not force to any respondents for giving the answers and fulfil questionnaire form. All
information which is included in the report should be authentic and structured.
Research Methodology:
Research methodology is a systematic plan for conducting investigation under which
several kinds of techniques included such as research approach, research philosophy, research
design, research technique, data collection, data analysis, sampling etc. In a simple word it
can be said that research methodology is a procedure that is used to collect information and
data for the objective of making business decision. The methodology includes various
research publication, survey, interviews, other research techniques etc (Khan, Farooq and
Ullah, 2010). In the present study, scholar have major aim is to analyse the impact of training
and development on the employee's performance and business productivity with respect of
Marks and Spencer. Thus, for attain this objective, scholar will apply following method of
research methodology-
Data collection: Data collection is one of the important method in the research
methodology that helps to researcher in collecting information about the subject. In
the absence of data collection method, scholar can not able to gather information
about the subject. Major two kind of data collection method that is primary and
secondary data collection (Miller and et. al., 2012). While researcher collects the
information from survey, interview, questionnaire, observation then it is known as the
primary data collection. With assistance of this method, researcher can collect fresh
information about the subject. On the other hand secondary information is that which
is gather from secondary sources such as books, journals, online blogs, articles etc. In
the current study, scholar will use primary data collection method under which survey
will conduct for collect information.

Data analysis methods: This is one of the important method that assists to the
researcher in understanding the actual objective of the study. With help of this
information can analyse and assess for find out the best solution of research
problem (Mohana, 2010). There are major qualitative and quantitative research
technique in the data analysis. In the present study, researcher will apply
qualitative research technique.
Data storing, methods: This method helps to the researcher in storing the
information in effective ad efficient manner. It is simply an electronic
representation of the data that researcher collected.
Population or sample size: Sampling is another method in the research
methodology that helps to scholar in selecting some group of people from the
entire population (Monsen and Horn, 2007).
Factors affecting the integrity, validity and reliability of the research:
Information should be reliable and valid so as researcher can obtain the right
solution about the research study.
Research tools, resources and techniques used (appropriate to the context): In
the present study researcher will use quantitative research technique that helps to
the scholar in representing information in table format, graphs and charts.
Limitations of the research:
While researcher conducts the investigation, scholar has faced several problems and there are
many limitations that create problem in the study. In the current research study, time is major
limitation due to which scholar face huge issue in the investigation (Nakkeeran and Zodpey,
2012). It is very difficult for the scholar to accomplish all activities and function of the
research within small period. Another major limitation is related to the finance as researcher
have insufficient fund. As in several activities like transportation, printing and stationary etc.
Due to insufficient fund, researcher may face the issue in the investigation.
Conclusion
From this study it has been found that research methodology is a systematic plan for
conducting investigation under which several kinds of techniques included such as research
approach, research philosophy, research design, research technique, data collection, data
analysis, sampling etc. It has been also concluded that with assistance of training and
development program, retail sector's organisation can easily enhance the level of performance
and quality of work at workplace.
