Background to Research Topic
In business organization, training and development is one of the important activities
that may assist in developing employees’ skills and knowledge towards the specified job

impact over overall performance of company (Kum, Cowden and Karodia, 2014). In this
competitive world, every day an innovation that comes into the market. This is the reason that
organization become dynamic wherein changes are occurred consistently. For handling all
these changes, proper training and development is beneficial as it makes employees able to
accept or handle changes and improve positive performance. One of the main reasons of
providing training is to increase productivity by improve quality standard within the
employee’s performance. It also assists in increasing organizational stability and flexibility as
well.
Background to Research Organization
This research is based on Marriott hotel, is famous American multinational diversified
hospitality company that operate their business in over the world for generating larger
profitability level. It manages and franchises a broad portfolio of various hotel and related
lodging facilities that provide to customers in order to satisfy their needs. Mainly, it founded
by J. Willard Marriott in 1927. It is third largest hotel chain in the whole world that provide
diverse services to its consumers. Company has around 30 brands along with 7003 properties
in 131 countries and territories in the world. Its headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland in the
Washington. Company also focus on its workers by providing better training and
development sin order to improve their performance level (Cloutier and et. Al., 2015). This is
the reason that training is crucial activities for company in managing their positive
performance and at the same time also sustain in market for longer period of time.
Research Rationale
The main reason behind selecting this research is to analyse the role of training and
development in improving the overall performance of employees within the company. in
addition of this, it also supports investigator in increasing their skills and knowledge towards

making researcher understand towards the set research aim. With the assistance of this,
investigator can easily improve the possibilities of attaining positive and reliable results.

will be applying deductive approach as it provide the observation that includes views and
opinion of selected people towards the research objectives (Asfaw, Argaw and Bayissa,
2015). Along with this, it also helps in gathering primary information with the use of
structured questionnaire. By this researcher can easily understand the ways to effectively
addressing the research issue. This will directly contribute in making overall research reliable
and successful as well.

While undertaking research, it is important for researcher to select appropriate and
suitable strategy that support them in improving the relevance of the results within the study.
There are various strategies that can be applied by researcher in order to collect reliable and
accurate data on the basis of specified research topic. In this context, case study, observation,

analysing the actual issue of investigation. For undertaking this research, researcher will use

for having in-depth knowledge from the focussed groups.
Quantitative: Whenever a researcher wants to have a quantified result than they use
this approach because numbers are in some stages are highly valued. However, this method is

researcher can understand reasons behind respondent’s behaviour.
Therefore, in order to evaluate this research quantitative method of research is used
because of its statistical significance. Thus, it will enable researcher in recognizing
relationship between subjects and hypothesis made.
Research Tools
In research, certain tools are there which support in undertaking the whole
investigation in a systematic manner. Thus, it is crucial for investigator to implement an
appropriate one so that they can easily make a justified result within the study in order to
make it more reliable and authentic. In addition of this, questionnaire, interview is the major
tool that directly supports in attaining positive and authentic results. Under this, questionnaire
will be prepared by investigator that help in collecting accurate information about research
theme. With the assistance of this, investigator may easily draw a valid conclusion and make
it more effective.
Sampling
It is referring to the effective process of selecting sample size from the larger
population with the aim of collecting relevant data from selected participants. Mainly, it is
classified into two sampling techniques such as probabilistic and non-probabilistic (Kim and
Ployhart, 2014). In undertaking current research, investigator would use probabilistic
sampling technique in which respondents are select as per random basis. In this all the
selected participants get equal chances to be selected for sharing their view point with
investigator towards the particular research theme. In context of this, 30 participants will be
selected who are the employees of business organization. As they have proper knowledge
about how training and development play its important role within the company. With the
assistance of this, researcher easily collect reliable information that support in drawing a valid
conclusion at the end of the study.
Timescale
It is one of the important sections of research as it is related with the timeframe in
which whole research activities would be carried out. In this all the activities takes specified
time frame to be completed. This may reduce the possibilities of arising any kind of issues
and obstacles. Mainly, it is classified on the basis of two aspect such as cross-sectional and
