INTRODUCTION
In an organisation, employees are most crucial assets through which company can carry
out its business activities and function for attain the objective. In order to get the outcome of the
company in effective manner, it is very important for company to have high skilled employees. It
is very important for the management to keep manage employees in such manner as they can
able to perform in most excellent manner. In order to manage employees performance, training
and development is one of the crucial method that help in enhancing skill, ability and capability
of personnels in the company. There are various kinds of training and development methods so
its depends upon requirement of employees as well as company that which kind of training they
conduct. The present report provides the effective knowledge and understanding about the
importance of training and development program for the employees as well as organisation
performance. In this report, the major objective is to analyse the training and development
program on the employee's performance with respect of Tesco Plc. For attain this objective,
scholar have implied several methods of the research methodology and conducted primary data
collection.

In the present research project, researcher have affected by the various factors and these factors
affected the interest of the scholar. The most important reason for selection of this topic is that
Tesco is a British multinational retailer which is one of the largest retailer in the terms of profit.
This will help to the scholar in collected better knowledge about the impact of training and
development on the employees performance. The major reason for selection of this project is
huge interest of the scholar in this research topic as training and development is very huge topic
within the company that affect the performance of organisation. In addition to this, scholar have
enough information and resources about the subject of training and development that is why this
topic has been selected.

Meaning and concept of training and development
According to the view of McMillan and Schumacher, (2014) training and development is the
major function of human resource management that affect the entire performance of organisation
as well as employees. In a simple word it is a kind of procedure that helps in enhancing the
existing performance, skill, knowledge, ability of the personnels. In the opinion of
Panneerselvam, (2014) training and development is a vital part of the human resource
development that help to the employees in developing their personality and professionalism.
Training and development is an educational program that help to the employees in enhancing
their skill, ability, knowledge and capability. This assists in enhancing the personality and
professionalism of the employees. By this strategy, company can enhance its productivity and
effeciency.
Methods of training and development
According to the view of Taylor, Bogdan and DeVaul (2015) training and development is the
major function of the human resource management that affect the performance of company as
well as employees. Once training effectively delivered to personnels then quality and
productivity of working can automatically enhance. In the context of on the job training,
company provides training and development to its workforce at the workplace. In this includes
job rotation, job instruction, coaching, mentoring etc. On the other hand in the off the job

employees can get the training from outside of the company.
Relationship between the training and development on the employees performance
According to the view of Özerdem and Bowd, (2016) training and development is a
human resource development program that assist in enhancing the ability and skill of the
employees. It is directly connected with employees performance because it is conducted
according to the needs of improvement among the workforce. In the opinion of Baskerville and
Wood-Harper, (2016) if company effectively organised the training and development program
then employees can effectively perform at the workplace. Once training and development
program organised at the workplace then it will directly influence to the performance of
employees. In the view of Rose, (2016) training and development encourage the employee's
competency and their motivation level. Once company organise training program then
employees can motivate and sometime they feel important themselves. In the opinion of Leavy,
(2016) training and development major two types that are on the job training and off the job
training. On the job training is that activity which conduct on the workplace in order to enhance
the performance of employees. In this activity includes internship training, coaching, job
rotation, roll playing etc.
1.4 Produce a project research specification
In the entire research project, researches methodology is that part that help in addressing
the right solution of the problem at the right time. In the present report, the major objective of
this study is to analyse the effect of training and development on the employee's performance so,
researcher will apply several methods which are as follows-
Research Philosophies- This method assist in addressing the right solution of research
problem. There are major two research philosophies such as interpritivism and possitivim
(Creswell, 2013). In the present study, scholar will apply positivism for analyse the
effect of training and development on the employee's performance.
Research approach- Major two kid of the research approach that is inductive and
deductive. In the present study, scholar will apply deductive research approach for
analyse the effect of training and development on the employee's performance (Daniel,
and Sam, 2011).

2.1 Research Questions and hypothesis
In the present study, scholar required various resources such as time, finance, human
resource. Human resource is major resource that scholar required in order to collect primary
information by using questionnaire (Flick, 2011). Another major source is time as in various

2.2 Project Specifications
In the present study, scholar have conducted the survey from 50 employees of the Tesco
Plc. Employees have effective knowledge about the training and development and its impact
upon the organisational performance. In order to conduct primary data collection, scholar have
designed questionnaire and taken personal email id from 50 employees. After that researcher sent
the questionnaire to 50 employees personal mail id so as they can easily fulfil the questionnaire
without any biasness. After gathering the information from primary source, the researcher has
analysed the result and has developed a valid conclusion.

From this research study it has been analysed that training and development is the major
function of human resource management that affect the entire performance of organisation as
well as employees. In a simple word it is a kind of procedure that helps in enhancing the existing
performance, skill, knowledge, ability of the personnels (Garne and Scott, 2013). In the survey,
researcher have conducted survey of 50 employees under which from 30 employees are strongly
satisfied with existing approach of training and development program in the Tesco. From this
collected data it has been analysed that, Tesco delivers training and development program to its
employees according to the requirement of them. It has been also analysed that cited venture
provides effective training and development program to its workforce which help to them in
improving their performance (Gay, Mills and Airasian, 2011). However, some employees in the
survey are still thought that cited venture have requirement to improve training and development
for its employees. Thus, following are some recommendation for further improvement of training
and development in the Tesco Plc-
Tesco Plc should adopt on the job and off the job training method for enhance the skill
and ability of employees.
Corporation should consider on the various virtual classes such as E-learning program,
computer techniques and others so as employees can enhance their skill, knowledge
about the working at workplace (Kriz, Gummesson and Quazi, 2013).
Company should maintain personal interaction so as they can get the feedback about the
training and development.
