Transformational Leadership 1
Transformational leadership is one of the most important nursing industries. In the world today
of a nursing industry, which is very uncaring towards the patients, a new form of leadership is in
need. People in today’s world are highly frustrated with the kind of impersonal conduct they get
from the nursing industry; this is not just a patient’s perception (Buil, Martínez and Matute,
2019). Many medical mistakes are being made in today’s world, and there is even more stress in
the health care industry. The long hours of work and stressful conditions of work are having a
negative effect on the value or care that the patients get, and hence a new model of leadership for
the nursing industry is required. Transformational leadership is what the nursing industry needs.
Nursing Management is based on revolution and positive transformational changes are needed.
Organizations focus on the leadership concept of leadership in training group or managers.
Transformational leadership involves relationship between the followers and the leaders. It
involves using one’s own ability to encourage the abilities in others; there are three factors of
transformation leadership: Idealized influenced of leaders, Inspirational motivational and ability
to inspire confidence, individualized consideration of group members. All these things can help
in nursing as these can help in understanding the needs and treating of the patients in a better
way. The healthcare industry is in need of this transformational leadership in order in order to
bring the necessary changes in the industry (Pieterse and Stam et al, 2010).
Three factors of transformational leadership
1. Idealized influenced of leaders
Transformational leaders act as a role model and display their personality everywhere and
this motivates others to become more like leaders. Transformational leaders are someone
who express himself or herself more and take risk. They also follow values and ethics in
the every situation; these leaders build trust among the co- workers and develop
confidence in the leaders (Boamah and Clarke et al, 2018).
2. Inspirational motivational and ability to inspire confidence
This refers to the ability of the leaders to encourage confidence, sense of purpose and
motivation to the coworkers or the followers in order to involve them in the team
discussion making and helping them to become innovative and creative to find solutions
to the problems. Leaders change the way people think about certain problems or issues.

The idea of the leader helps the follower groups to see a different picture and makes them
succeed in the efforts. Transformational leaders challenge the expectations and the
thoughts from the followers without critiquing them.
3. Individualized consideration of group members
Every follower in the group has a specific goal or a need for example some are in need of
money some need change etc. the individualized consideration of these leadership
recognizes these needs. The leaders recognize the needs by eavesdropping or observation
and see what motivates each individual, by the use of one-on-one tutoring method and
with mentoring; the transformational leader gives chances of customized training
meetings to the members. These activities give chance to the team members to develop
and accomplish their positions (McCleskey, 2014).
