Response To Question 1:
TransNamib has revised their Aus to Lüderitz trail after 20 years which was based on
projects and organizational strategy. The TransNamib implemented a strategy of moving goods
by rail rather by road. The strategic focus of their business plan is to focus on the rail more
because the company aim to double the freight movement from 520 tonnes to ship bulk
manganese and provide a minimum of 30 000 metric tonnes of manganese concentrate per month
for the route. Investing in railways is a wise decision by the company because it has a long
lifespan than road transport. The company has revised its organizational strategy of investing
into rail transport because when compared with the road transport, railways can ship materials in
bulk and allows for more freight carried once and the train can carry around thirty trucks of
freight at one single transport. This will lead to the cost-cutting and prove beneficial for the
TransNamib transportation company.
One of the advantages of taking this decision by the company could be taking the trucks
off the roads, this will cause less number of accidents, reduce congestion resulting from traffic
and cause less damage to the environment. Transportation of raw materials through rail will be
beneficial for the company because railways have lower fuel costs as compared to shipping of
materials through the road. Shipment through railways is more environment-friendly because
train burns less fuel than the trucks. So, it can be stated that the decision taken by TransNamib
to revive the Aus-Lüderitz trail based on projects and organizational strategy was worth it and
prove beneficial for the company in future.

Response To Question 2:
As a project management expert, decreasing human errors will be more cost-effective and
prove beneficial for the operations of the company. Human errors lead to more accidents, delays
in the shipment and cause incidents. So, by examining human errors can save TransNamib’s time
and money that can negatively influence its operations.
Providing sufficient training and education to the managers and the supervisors will
reduce miscommunication and misadjustments during train operations.
Changes in the disciplinary system of the company and timely investigations and
hearings for investigations will lead to the smooth functioning of the operations in the company.
Addressing the mistakes which arise due to the lack of safety measures through regular safety
meetings. This open communication will result in safety, and the problems can be addressed
easily. To monitor the project performance, centralized accident tracking system should be used
to avoid any human or financial loss to the company.
Any amendments in the company will be printed by the project manager and distributed
to the employees. This will give more clarification to proceed with the operations. The
employees will be given warnings based on the actions that cost the company money and time.
This will help in improving the performance of the employees and help in escalating the
problem. Lastly, tracking the performance of the employees at all levels will help in measuring
the success and failure of the project.
