accommodation industry is also getting increase. There are many types and varieties of hotel
business have opened with variety of rates. There are hotel services which provides the luxurious
services to the guest, there prices for the services is also is according to the quality of services.
And there are accommodations available at reasonable rates also which can get afford by an
average layman. These businesses are very much in demand at today’s time. For reference
purpose this report has taken an example of a resort, Constance Moosfushi, Maldives. It is a five
start resort which is located in Maldives. The resort provides the luxurious services to their
guests at the coast of beaches and water around it. The resort provides all water sports, free food,
wifi, lavish services and much more.
This report discuss about the different types of resorts along with their features and the
challenges which is been faced by such hotels. The report also includes the different types of
packages which have the hotel to offer and the process about how they fulfill their sales or earns

P4 Apply the guiding principles for achieving sustainable tourism for the resort
Sustainable development refers to the use of resources in such a way that the future
generations can also use them. It also refers to the adoption of activities which creates no harm to
the environment or the natural resources. The business are becoming more and more sustainable
in their activities by making a change into the operations of their business and shifting the
operations which is environmental friendly. There are some principles which a business or resort
can use to promote the sustainable tourism, some of them are follows:
Reduction of over consumption and waste management: The resort should adopt the activities
which would result into the minimum consumption of resources. There should not be any kind of
wastage into the resort. Although the resort should adopt the proper waste management
technique so that the waste which is produced by the resort should manage very properly.
Trained staff: The staff which is been hired by the company should be trained about the
sustainability tourism and they should get proper training about the sustainable activities so that
their actions and behavior should be accordance with that (Xiang, Magnini and Fesenmaier,
2015). The trained staff can also be a merit for the resort as it is they only who interacts with the
customers or the guests first.
Saving local communities: The local communities which is resisting into the tourism place
should not get affected by the people who have come for the travelling purpose. Because it has
been noticed that the due to increase into the travelers the culture of local committees get
affected which is not so good of the community. Therefore the resorts activities needs to conduct
in such a way that it promotes the culture of local communities rather than to obsolete it.
CONCLUSION
From the report discuss above, the different types of resorts has been mentioned. Some of
them include all inclusive resorts, mountain resorts, beach resorts and etc. These resorts do face
many challenges like maintenance, proper management, risk associated with water sports and so

on. To cover these challenges the organization opts for the many safety measures. The report
also includes the kinds of packages offered by the resorts to their guests some of them includes
the honeymoon packages, corporate packages, water sports packages and etc. There are many
ways or approaches adopted by the organization to increase in their sales some of them includes
Advertisements and promotions, Hotel group sales strategy, Hotel direct sales strategy and the so
on.
